Cab is one big part, but the bed has to be assembled with CA,

Axles are metal and a little rough cast, but they turn smoothly and there is no play between ring and pinion, so I don't think they will need to be shimmed. I'll check later and grease them.

Tires are not bad, but I will be using 1.9 RC4WD Rock Crushers.

If you like building plastic models then you should enjoy this kit. The entire bed has to be assembled with CA. I have glue all over my hands and my wife is pissed because I got it on my good pants. :mrgreen:

Front bumper is metal, but it is not made to hold the kit winch. Looks like it mounts to another section behind the bumper, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm planning to use an RC4WD Warn 8274 winch if I can.

Tires are about 105mm tall. These I'm using are about 109mm, so not much taller. I like the narrower look, and mine will have a wider wheel offset so they will stick out just a little more.

This kit looks a lot like a bobbed M35A2 deuce and a half, but not quite. The cool thing is that since they are custom trucks you can do just about anything you want to the kit and it will be realistic. I chopped off part of the rear fenders that used to stick down further than I liked. I'll probably make them even with the bed later.

What's up, Scott?! :mrgreen: I found it on Ebay and the seller was supposed to be shipping from California, but it actually started in Ontario. Shipping was only about a week, so not too bad.

I took the chassis parts to work and did some assembly away from my wife's prying eyes. ;-)
The transmission is smooth and has grease, so I installed my motor.
So far so good.

The transfer case was the same. Good job, Cross-Rc. "thumbsup" They both appear to be made from the same metal as the axles, so not super high quality, but they seem like they will work well. Transmission is heavy.

The leaf springs surprised me a little at first. The main spring is a normal steel spring, but all the others are plastic - maybe Delrin - not really sure. I decided it would probably be way too stiff with all steel springs and you want the full spring pack look for this rig, so plastic is probably good. Lighter and more flexible.
You have to pay attention to the orientation of the rear axle when installing the springs. I put mine on the wrong way at first and my diff would have been running backward if I hadn't caught it. Guess I was in a hurry and like I said, there are no words, so you have to look closely at the pics in the manual.

Everything looks pretty solid. The casts may be a bit rough but nothing a dremel and a sanding wheel can't smooth out. I am sure it will look great when you are done. I will be following this thread.
How is the tread compound on the stock tires? Soft enough? I kind of like that they are a bit wider than most and the tread pattern seems ok.

The rest of the chassis build is basically hanging the parts on the rails. Some of the screws were a little confusing, but I think I got everything mounted with the right hardware. I have scale hardware from Locked up RC, so all the visible screws will be replaced by bolts once everything is mocked up.
For whatever reason the Cross-RC logo (in blue letters) is printed upside down on the frame rails. Yes I have them mounted correctly.
There is a cut-out on the passenger side rail for the shifting servo, so they can only go one way.
Two cross members are plastic, but there are some that are metal and several other metal parts, too.

The tires aren't horrible, but they are not soft or sticky. This is going to be a heavy truck, so that may be why. Don't want to look like it's rolling on four flat tires. :mrgreen: Plus, it isn't really going to do well on rocks, so for trailing I think they are good.
