Choosing a motor and ESC for your Wraith - Gearing Added!

Hi there i am looking for a good quality x low budget sensored motor to pair up with a wraith, i am leaning on viper 13.5t 2400kv for its price and because its sensored also. will this be a good motor?
Viper RC VST 13 5T Super Stock Class Sensored Brushless Motor 8VST135001 | eBay
I will run 2s lipo 40c or 4s lipo plugged in series to go on sand uphills also. Or do you think its best i go with the 17.5t or the 10.5?
Do you think i will nedd to change the stock spur and pinion and put a bigger one for example 87t spur and 16t pinion for better low end, or this motor will already give that without heating issues?
thanks for your times
best regards to you all.

I don't see any useful info in that auction. I don't see what the rotor diameter or anything. I have never used it and don't know anything about it.

The first page and the other sticky has all of the other info you need. Just read the first pages.

I am on a low budget and i have seen the first page, but i need a closed can low budget sensored motor. what do you suggest? for + 15 bucks?

For another $15 you could actually have a quality motor.

i need a closed can sensored motor, for another 15$ what would you suggest to be a quality motor?
I run a lot on sand and if the can is open sand will get in and eventually destroy and wear out the internals of the motor quickly.
Please give me an idea of a quality motor for the extra 15$ that i will get it, if its closed can and sensored.
here is some more info on that motor
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...per-R-C-VST135-ROAR-Spec-Brushless-Motor-135T

http://www.viper-rc.com/vst.html

the rotor spec on the 10.5 until the 21.5t viper motor is 12.50mm so as tekin redline 13.5
VST spec class factory default rotor 12.50mm 10.5T to 21.5T, ROAR spec
i have a friend who paired the 13.5gen 2 tekin with mamba max pro and he have to regear to get low end speed for crawling, he put a 87t spur and a 16t pinion to stop the cog of the tekin gen 2 13.5 motor, and its motor was brand new, but the gen 2 arent closed can.

thanks in advance.

thanks in advance.

Hobbywing 3656sd 3400kv. It's a sealed can 4 pole motor that is in the same class as the tenshock and pro4 when racing short course. Biggest difference is that it runs cooler than the pro4 (and way more affordable). It's sealed from the factory but I pulled mine apart and added conformal coating to the windings and sensor board. Then I added dielectric grease to the sensor port, bearings, and where the endbell meets the can. Now I can run it underwater. It crawl good and is silly fast.

can you please sent me the link where can i buy it? and how much it costs?
i have seen it its a 5mm shaft i will have to upgrade to 32 pitch gears also.
and the price is about 90usd
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOBBYWING-X...Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ac71f02f7

NEVERMIND THAT HOBBYWING MOTOR DOESNT FIT ON A WRAITH, I HAVE PUTTED A CASTLE CREATIONS SCT 2400KV AND I HAVE TO CUTT THE PLATE TO MAKE IT FIT AND ADD 2 SHIMMS UNDER THE GEARBOX TO GET THE MOTOR HIGHER SO IT FITS ON THE PLATE OR ELSE I WOULD HAVE TO CUT THE PLACE WHERE IT BOLTS THE LINKS OF THE WRAITH.
THANKS ITS A GOOD MOTOR BUT SIMPLY IT DOESNT FIT ON AN AXIAL WRAITH AT ALL.

I honestly don't remember where I bought mine but I'm pretty sure it was about $80. Im sure you can shop around. You will need to upgrade to 32p gears to handle any of the good motors, not just those with 5mm shafts. I wouldn't have recomended it if it didn't fit in a wraith. It has been working great in my wraith for almost a year now. No modifications needed. What makes you think it wouldn't fit. You seem to be very confident about it, with the all caps... :lmao:

MY WRAITH RUNS A CASTLE 2400KV SCT 4 POLE ON 2S OR 4S TO FOFF
I HAVE TO CUT THE PLATE NEAR THE LINKS TO MAKE IT FIT AND ADD SHIMMS BETWEEN THE PLATE AND THE GEARBOX TO MAKE THE GERBOX AND MOTOR HIGHER SO IT FITS AND It doesnt hit the link mount on the back.
if the castle sct 2400kv has 69.50mm lenght and i can cut any more without cuting the link mount more (wich will make it weaker)
Castle Creations | Mamba Max Pro SCT
the hobbywing you suggested is
Model: XERUN 3656SD KV3400 Sensored Brushless Motor
Motor Dimensions (Diameter x Length): 36mm x 71.5mm
Shaft Dimensions (Diameter x Length): 5mm x 17mm
Rotation Speed: 3400KV
so another 2mm off to cut on the rear link mounts wich will get weaker. Its possible to fit but it will stay with a low amount of plastic to hold up the rear links with strenght.
Im sorry about the caps, i am not arguing believe me its just i have a pass e use to acess a website i am constantly working on and the last letter is with caps so when i come back i dont even remember and i just type the way it was, my fault i am sorry for that i hope e havent made any harm for that, if i did i beg my pardon.

I'll take a picture of my 3656sd bolted up in my wraith with no mods after I finish lunch. "thumbsup"
Ok, thanks, but for me to make the castle 2400kv on the wraith i have to cut the plate to make it fit as i told you, because the back of the motor was hitting the upper righ rear link mount.
(now without caps, i remembered now) lol
Thanks once again.

Have a Wraith Kit I am building. Got a RTR Wraith but going build a beefer one. I have this Mamba Max Pro (CSEMAXPRO5700) Would like to run aleast the ESC and can I change the motor for more trail and crawling? I understand most of the electronic but still learning these motors and esc. Thanks

I don't have any experience with that motor. I stick with sensored motors in my surface vehicles.

DO NOT change the motor wires around on sensored motors.

K that what I read somewhere just making sure.

I measured it and as the name implies it measures 36mm x 56mm. It just touches the link mount but certainly doesn't require anything to be done.

for sure it does, congrats, but the measurements of the link i get for that motor it had the measures wrong then because it was saying it has 71.5mm long.

wow now i find the correct motor
US Seller Hobbywing XERUN 3656 Sensored 1 10 SCT Brushless 4 Pole Motor 3400KV | eBay

please tell me what gearing are you using, spur and pinion so that i can buy the same thing, also, does the motor comes with gauge wire? and conectors? i will need bullet conectors to plug in my mamba max pro.
The only thing i am thinking is my shafts, i run stock shafts with a bolt inside and you run mips. also i have grinded the inner hubs of the wheels with the power of the castle 2400kv on 4s, but i will try to go easy and lower the power on the mamba max pro to try to not break the shafts. and acelerate progressivly. do you used it on 4s or just 2s? because it says its a 2 or 3s motor, and i have ony 2s lipos, so i can run 2s or 4s lipo rsrsr.
thanks a lot for your help, can you tell me what you use to bolt or is just get a 32 pitch spur like 56t and a 14t pinion and i am good to go?

I prefer to trust the manufacture as opposed to an eBay reseller.

Please what gearing are you using? 56/14 32 pitch gears? any spur will do to bolt in the axial clutch?
do you think i can get it to run on 4s lipo? and on 2s will have good low end torque?

I run an 11t pinion and a 60t duratrax spur. The part number for the spur that bolts up to the axial hub is DTXC9396. The motor comes with a sensor wire but not the 3 motor wires. I don't use conectors between the esc and motor on any of my trucks. Those shafts are junfacs not mip. I run 3s on all my trucks. I'm not sure what you mean by "can you tell me what you use to bolt".

i would like to keep the dust gear cover, so i guess might get the spur you told me but the 56t so i can keep the debris out of the gearing, and the gearing away from the wires and my sons hands (yes he is 3 year old but already drives my wraith too, and makes me mad also rsrs). where do you buy the junfacs?
i dont have a 3s lipo, so i can only run 2s or plug in series and make 4s lipo.
what you use to bolt, i mean the specific spur gear because there are some models that doesnt fit on the axial hub like you said.
Man you make my day with that motor. i am really happy, i just hope the seller on ebay ship that to brasil, i am crossing my fingers here.
Thanks again I AM VERRY VERY HAPPY
UHUUUUUUUUUUUU

The center of the spur is deeper on one side than the other. If you run the deeper side facing the transmission and do some sanding to the inside of the spur cover near the driveshaft you can run the cover with that 60t spur. I bought the junfacs on eBay. They are the same price as the ax10 MIPS but a bit lighter. If I lived where you do I would go with the ax10 MIPS since they are stronger and I wouldn't want to wait for shipping from the US if I broke a junfac. I chose the junfacs because I am trying to keep my wraith light. If I break one I will replace them with MIPS and put the junfacs on my scaler. If you buy MIPS don't waste your money on the wraith versions. The ax10 versions are cheaper and still fit.

Edit: I bet your 3 year old loves the wraith. My 2 year old drives mine. He turns 3 next month and I want to get him a rc of his own for his birthday. My youngest son turned 1 today.
