After having a lot of fun with the 1.9 class I've decided to try out Class 3.

This was just under one month ago when I swtiched from an XJ to a JK.

As I wait for funds I'm currently building a simple interior, but it's my first time working with styrene so it's nothing great.

Have to start somewhere.

I really didn't like how the spur gear was in the way.

Luckily, I was able to flip the whole skid plate with tranny and motor 180* and the interior still fit perfectly!

How she currently sits.

The "tub" between the front wheel wells and the tranny cover is for my new electronics box to sit in (lower COG a bit and still have room for a nice sized battery).

I really wanted some scale seats before I finished the interior, just to get everything layed out.
I just got my Recaro seats today and man do they look great! :mrgreen:

Now I can work on the dash, center console, and everything else. Originally I was planning to scrap a 2-Door New Bright JK just for its interior, but to save a bunch of money I'll try my own look, especially with the racing seats. Wish me luck!

Of course I have to get some new 2.2 wheels and tires, but I'll also need some aluminum knuckles, c's, stronger servo, and maybe some RC4WD mini wheel wideners for a wide stance. I'm still waiting on funds so it might be a while before she's driveable again.

All feedback is greatly appreciated! (especially with interior ideas) "thumbsup"

where did you get your seats?

I had a little time this weekend to work on the dash. It's nothing great, but I'm happy with it so far. I still have to fill some holes and figure out how to make the top look better. And I need to pick up some more styrene to do the center console.
Does anyone know what "putty" type material is best to use with styrene? I have Testor's Contour Putty available locally, but I've heard it's not so great. Would bondo filler be better? I'm afraid of the stress this is going to encounter, and that any filler might just break off.

hey man where did you find those seats at??and i'll tell you the best filler to use is usc icing its kinda pricey bout 30bux for a huge tube. but its very durable it hardens and bondes to the styrene perfectly it wont chip off like bondo filler and sands great no pinholes its self leveling..its the greatest filler ive ever used top notch i highly recommend it. just because its a lil pricey dont pass it up theres no need spending hrs and hrs on styrene work to use a cheap filler and it crumbles away after first run...and please hook me up with where u got the seats"thumbsup"

I didn't like the arched instrument panel hood so I cut it out and made something closer to the stock JK. I also built up the top of the center electronic panel and put some fancy sides on it. Got another styrene sheet today so now I can start working on the center console.

Thanks Wes! What type of putty/filler material would you recommend? Ever use Testors Contour Putty?

I used the green putty I got from the hobby store. I think there are probably better things to use though.

USC icing it's pricey but the best stuff on the market it don't leave pins holes sands great and is self leveling and it don't chip and flake like bondo or spot putty. Google it or search it here. It's some awesome stuff

Thanks guys! I'm still thinking about that USC Icing stuff...

Got some more styrene work done tonight though. Built the center console, which was pretty simple. The seats aren't in their final positions yet. I'm still thinking about how I should mount them (double-sided tape, velcro, goop, or permanent vs. removable).

After I finish patching a few more holes with styrene, then it's on to filling/sanding/smoothing, and then some much needed paint!

I was finally able to order my parts tonight too so they should be on by mid next week. :mrgreen:

Thanks man! I used 0.04" (1mm) for the floor and 0.03" (0.75mm) for everything else.

Haha thanks! I have new wheels, tires, aluminum C hubs and knuckles, and wideners in the mail and on the way. I'll be at school next week though so I probably won't install it all until next weekend. That will also be when I get to cut up the body a little. :twisted:

Good news though is that I can still finish the interior until then haha I want to test out some putty to smooth out the seams and then I'll be able to paint it. I'm thinking of an overall black look with some red accenting. Sound good? I picked up some brass tubing and sheets this week so I can start on a muffler/exhaust system. "thumbsup"

Well I got my wheels and tires in!
They looked a little bigger in the pictures...

Mandatory flex shot...lol

Also got some new tow shackels in the mail for the rear to match the fronts.
Funny, these looked a lot smaller in the pictures :???: oh well!

The 1:1 shackels were supposed to be counter-weights for this:

It's my final Engineering Design project...a F2K Trebuchet (missing the counter weights and partially dissassembled).
Currently keeping me away from working on the Jeep. Luckily only one week left of classes! :mrgreen:

My real wheels and tires are still on the way. Pictures will be up this weekend!

Well I was able to get the wheels, tires, and other things a little sooner than expected. I'm really happy with how they look and the tires seem really grippy!

Replaced the stock plastic knuckles and C hubs with Gold Horizon black aluminum parts, and installed JunFac wheel wideners, CAC delrin wheels, and 2.2 TSL SX Super Swampers.

You'll notice several things from the pictures. First, I definitely need to cut the fender flares a little for clearance. I also might need to lift the body a little or do a suspension lift, but I do like the low look. I only have a couple screws holding the tires on now for pictures while I wait on some wheel weights so they might look a little wider than normal.

Front approach angle is still slightly less than the ideal 90*+. Rear isn't ideal either, but both are a good start. I might put some spacers in the links to spread the axles apart more.

Can't wait for some more progress and defenitely can't wait to test this thing out!
