I'm just about finished with building my TF2 SWB, and went to put the Tamiya YJ body on it. I saw in the instructions to use self-tapping screws under the bumper. I'm sure this makes the body and chassis into a solid unit, but that seems like it would be a pain to change batteries, turn on the power, etc.

I've already got magnets in the hood and hardtop from when I mounted the YJ on my MST CMX, so I'm leaning towards making a bracket to mount magnets to the chassis.

Anyone else mounting their Wrangler body without using the self-tapping screws?

I finished my SWB a few weeks ago and I'm still waiting on my body to arrive this comming week. I'll keep you informed on how I go about the mounting...

I'm hoping to drive it around the yard for the first time tomorrow. It feels pretty substantial, and looks amazing.

I'm also debating if I need to raise the body a bit. It's pretty easy to hit the Growlers against the fender flares during a workbench flex session, and I'm not going to cut the flares. I may try to find or make some 12mm hexes that are a few millimeter's narrower.

I came up with this for the front of mine:

Metal tab cut from a sheet of steel and screwed into the same holes used for the fog lights, and a piece of thick angled styrene screwed into the underside of the servo mount. Only one screw in front and works like a charm! "thumbsup"
