Battery For the Bomber.....

Trying to make a good decision on a battery for my bomber. My Current SMC hard case batteries are too big. My turnigy HD batteries have 8ga wire that terminates at the top of the battery, not allowing the cables to go inside the chassis. My revolectrix 4s batteries are too long.....

Looking for a proper 3s ~3000-5000mah pack Ideally in the 50c or better range. Hopefully on the lighter side. That fits snug into the battery compartment. Any Idea's??

I'm currently Running a MMX/ Holmes Puller pro 3500. I do run a HV futaba Servo, and I will be running 2 Headlights/ lightbar/ and U4/ KOH style rear bar. I want to have ability for 30 min trail ride.

Not sure if these are what you are looking for but i have both for my bomber.

the 3000mah fits with tons of room to spare

the 5000mah one is about as long as you can go at 146mm
https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14842

but it does fit like a glove for height and length (rear battery wall thats movable is actually all the way forward on my truck ) so battery width could get bigger than 25mm if needed

You could use the sizes of the 5000mah battery i linked to to find something that fits your needs.

My Bomber is running a HH Puller Pro Std 540 3500KV with 10/64 gearing and I have been using the Turnigy Graphene 3000mAh 3S 65C packs with great success.
I haven't properly timed it, but I estimate run time to be around the 45min - 1hr mark, and that's with a fair bit of hard hill-climbing and just general bashing around.

LHS had the 4300 SMC in stock, so thats what I went with!! Thanks for you help guys! Now I need to figure out lighting...

Great thread about batteries. I am brand new to RC vehicles, and just bought a Bomber. I need to know what kind of charger to purchase. Are chargers specific to the type of vehicle/battery or are they "generic"? Any recommendations? Thank you

If you are going lipo, make sure to get a lipo specific charger. A good cheap option is the Thunder AC6. Hyperion makes nice chargers as well.

I've had good luck with the SKYRC iMAX B6AC (similar price range as Thunder). I think there are reviews for both on YouTube.

I run these with MMP/Holmes PP3500kv and stock gearing. I easily get 30 minutes runtime. https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=58921

Max size per Axial Bomber kit manual is 149x35x52mm.

Wished I would have waited. They were out of stock when I ordered so went with these.

They fit in the slot but it's a tight fit. And I haven't figured out quite where the plug will go w/o putting stress on the wires.

A little trim helps there

I'll try that. Also thought about gluing a piece of plastic across and just laying out flat. It fits within the listed dimensions Axial gives but is also pretty tall. I'll mess around with it.

I'm sure this is gonna sound like a pretty stupid question, but just how do you guys orientate the battery wires? Assuming the wires come out of the battery from a single point on the top edge, do you have that exit point facing down? I guess the issue is further complicated in my rig because I've mounted my ESC on the inner right of my bomber (Inside the right lexan panel). Didn't really want to double tape my MMP to the receiver box. Which means that I'm needing to run an extension to connect the ESC to the battery. I'm finding it very hard to fiddle with plugs and wires especially with the scale interior installed.

I use 3S 2200 mAh batteries - very, very common battery - I'd suggest 40C or higher

They are inexpensive, light, fit easy, and provide plenty of run time and power
