Backyard Crawler Course

Took the SCX10 down for a little testing. Parts I'm pretty happy with others need some work.

Great video, always fun to watch. And they give me ideas of things to do on my course!

Wasn't happy with the ramp table top setup, just didn't have any character. So I torn the one side down and started over. This time I took the one remaining ramp I had and placed it backwards on the off ramp. You now drop off the table top and immediately need to climb the big rock of maneuver off the side. Down a bit then a little incline to get off the end. Right now I have the back ramps covered with rock but my idea is to use mortar to to cover the top and sides with rocks embedded in the top surface and will probably carve the sides. Took the Deadbolt down and ran on it and was pretty satisfied with it.

looks great. ive been playing in the woods behind my house and thinking about building some additional "obstacles" to include the creek there a little more. its interesting running on overgrown (its the season) deer trails.

Off and on between other projects I have been working on the course. I think I finally have something that I like. Took the TRX6 down for a test run and it had some challenging spots so that was good. Still needs some tweaking but at least now I feel I'm making headway.

The pile in the top right is my current supply pile of concrete rubble

Been in a heat wave here so not much work has been done to the course. Have started a 3rd area but it's a long way from the test phase. Did take the SCX10 down and tried it. It was a much bigger challenge than the TRX6. :ror:

Looks like some areas are really tough, those are usually my favorite places. Making good courses seems to be really hard, at least for me. I have a Case 990 with a frontend loader so I can really get some holes dug. I made one area on a hill, dug out the base and put all the dirt at the top. Then lined it with old patio concrete and its one of the places I goto the least.

Gets boring fast if you can just drive up to a place and climb it. I forgot how many times I rearranged the concrete scrap to get something I was happy with. I'm started working on an area where it can be approached from 4 sides. When I get the concrete all settled I intend to also build some trails too. So just fill the hole in and try something else.

Weather finally cooled off where it's pleasant to be outside so this evening I went out and worked on the next section of the track. It's a 12x12 area where you pick the line. I have it to the point where I think the rest of it I will just toss the concrete rubble in and let it light where it may. I'm hoping that this will make the interior interesting and challenging.

Did some more work on Phase III last night. After looking at it for a day I think it needs one more layer in the middle. I put that on then crawl it and see what happens.

Took the TRX4 down to see how it was going to crawl on the track
