any crawlers in MN?

We did need to move rocks around before starting for the 2.2's. The problem with those rocks are the large pockets. It is a ok spot, but I would prefer a location with natural rock rather then the pile of rocks. Or if it was a pile of rocks, gravel fill would be needed.

And for Taylors falls this weekend, here is the email that Ben sent us.

I agree, some natural rock formation is the ticket. There's plenty of Bluffs in Mn with the rivers flowing through here.
Meeting at the Drive-In Sun before the crawl?

i wont be able to make it on sunday , fathersday is come'n up and we already have plans :-(

hopefully we can find some other places as well , i'm going to try to scout out a few places after work this week

Well fellas, I have good news and bad news. Good news is I got a part time job at Red Rooster, so I'll be able to afford the brushless set up and other goodies I've been wanting for the crawler. Bad news is I will probably be working on weekends. I'm not sure how this will affect my ability to make the comp schedule at this point. Are we moving them to Sundays now? It kind of sounds like I'll work alot of hours one week, and not so much the next, so that should leave every other weekend free. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

With that lathe motor and intermediate shaft, the torque has dropped a bit. I could go with a 65T lathe, but I'd hate to lose the wheel speed. So, brushless it is. The only bummer about going brushless is the decrease in weight sitting on the front end. I suppose I could always add weights to the rims to get that back. We'll see what happens over the summer.

Iowa comp up-date

Since Rerock is starting a new pt job, and I might be the only one from Mn to be at the "Midwest comp"? (that I know of anyway) I thought I'd wanna try and have a good showing for us.

Well I started going over the trucks tonight to get ready for the Iowa comp. I re-locked the Brown clod, it was JB'ed, it was just in crumbles like little pieces of rock. I got it locked and rebuilt pretty much the whole truck tonight with a 16"wb. I also removed alot of foam from those tires, and drilled holes to let the air out. With these beadlocs, they do hold air, which sucks for crawling.

Tomorrow I'm planning on getting the brushless in and set up in the SW2 Tlt.
Fri I'll lock the pede in the P4, and install my 9t modified motor in the RC10-T4, I already put some sand paddles on it for some sand dragging in Iowa. I think I'll take it to the beach very early Sat morning for a test run :)
Saturday afternoon it's on to locking the axles on the stick clod, and giving that the once over.

Sunday it's over to Taylors to beat the crap out of them all, so I know what is and what ain't. Then next week will be fixing anything that might of broke before comp time in Iowa the 24th. First real out-of-town trip of the summer and I'm looking forward to it :). I'm having the trailer lettering done next week with MNRCRockcrawlers.com, and the club logo, and probably a small "crawler hauler". At this time, I'm not putting FreetimeRcHobbies on it yet.

Thats all folks for this up-date, I haven't had the chance to post results of the comp up yet. I will by this weekend.

Just an FYI for you guys... I am working on posting the pics from the comp onto the website, but it's been taking me a little bit obviously. I'm sorting through the 10 pages:shock: of pics and trying to post about 4 or 5 of each truck so as to keep the bytes at a reasonable level. I also have to resize the final pics for the same reason. And at the same time I've been working late at my job and trying to work on another prodject after work too. Not making excuses, just letting you guys know why I haven't posted those pics yet.

I also an trying to make it to the gtg on Sunday, but I can't say for sure yet. Speaking of which; Etype, if you could post location/directions to where it's being held that would be great.

Well Ben sent out a email to us to this morning saying they are changing it to the following weekend. They are doing this because one of them is going out of town, and a few of them don't even have crawlers built yet. Plus they didn't realize it was fathers day.

Either way I am still going. I do not plan stuff a week in advance and cancel 3 days before the planned date. I'll get on google maps tonight and screen capture the map and mark the location out with general directions.

Do you guys still want to do 2pm? And how many of you can make it? Even if we only have a small showing we can evaluate the park for comp use or more get togethers.

As for fathers day, I'll be waxing and detailing my dads truck on Saterday for him. That will free me up on Sunday.

I'm game for some Sunday crawling foresure, 2:00 works for me, but I guess earlier would be even better. I may head over about 12:00 so I can head home by about 4:00 and still have plenty of crawling time. My dad lives out of town, so a gift card and a phone call is my fathers day.
I foresure need to get some wheel time in before the Iowa comp and check out the new set-ups and make any ajustments. Not to mention checking out new locations for future comps/gtg's.
I'll be looking for the maps tonight!!

Mike, if I can borrow that puller?? If you would, please bring it Sun, I'll be leaving the following Fri morning for Iowa, and I'd like to get a body mounted on it next week and do whatever it may need, The 2.2 tires would be fine. LMK.

damn troy , you been a busy lil boy havnt ya

yes I have, it took me from about 7:00-7:30 last night till about 12:30 to complete the Brown clod re-build. The brushless is easy to install, I just need to figure out that Quark programing. The stick clod should be fairly easy to tear down and lock. And the 9t modified motor for the RC10 T4 will be a simple motor/ESC swap. The Pede tranny I'm not sure about, I've usually bought mine locked,, but I'm sure I'll figure it out with no problem.
I'd also like to get the back yard course finished soon, The trailer lettered next week, and whatever other preperations I need to do well before Next Fri. Finish my rope bridge and maybe make another stick bridge. I will be around home if you wanna get some more run time testing on the kid's truck.

Troy, I'll see if I can find the parts to put the 2.2's back on, I will bring it with on Sunday.

Should we plan on meeting in the parking lot there at noon?

Noon sounds good, Nickelpimp is here tonight working on trucks, he said noon is good with him as well.

I'm thinking it'd be nice to see the Taylors Falls spot. Noon or 2:00 works ok for me. I was wondering if anyone one would mind if I were to hitch a ride with them. Kevin, I know you live real close to me, would you mind?(that is, if you're going)
I did a Google Earth map but forgot to take a screen shot to put up here. I can do that later today. I'm off to work now.

I am planning on making it now. Adogg, I don't mind at all if you ride with. Just pm me directions to your place.

Whew... I'm finally done sizing and placing the pics on our website. Check it out. For the sake of space limitations I've only put about 3 or 4 pics of each rig on the site (I put an extra 1 or 2 of MaddJack's since ProBeater was also driving the same rig).

I googled directions to taylors falls for whoever is making it this Sunday. Follow the link and it should give you directions from Bloomington.
http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Bloomington,mn+to+st+croix+trail+and+1st+st,+taylors+falls,+mn&ie=UTF8&om=0

The mileage it shows is messed up. But basically it says to take hwy 35 (E or W, it doesn't really matter cause you don't exit till after they merge together) north to US 8 east (exit 132 to Taylors Falls). The place is called Inerstate State Park. The parking lot is the last right before the St. Croix river.

Of course Etype please correct me if any of this is inaccurate.

If I was as good as Adogg, I'd just post the map directly.:flipoff:

*Side note* You can also take hwy 95 north through Stillwater, but from experience I think it'd be faster to take 35, especially from the main metro area.

Ok, so here are a couple of the Sat Maps for Taylors Falls. Nicklepimps directions look like the samething that I came up with.

(oh BTW... I'm changing my color a bit. I like the orange, close to my copper. Getting a little tired of the yellowish, not really CAT yellow.)
