Another Venture build by this newb

So I added the front ssd +3mm offset brake rotor to the front and its just right now. I actually think the spacing on the front is perfect too as most local FJ guys have a bit of tire outside the flare, I know my tacoma is that way too. I have a pair for the rear but laziness has gotten the best of me in that regard. I did try to hunt down a 4 link mount but that may be a futile effort with hpi in admin. I think the brass in the front is a bit much actually and dont plan to add the tubes in the rear or add beef tips that i had ordered to the shocks (at least until i am bored one weekend and end up rebuilding them). I think this truck is super cool and was very capable as well.

I guess, I'll have to look into the brake rotors. I'm going to try 8mm hexes first though.

The 4-link mount came with the RTR in a separate bag, you just had to buy the links. I think you bought yours second-hand though right?

yeah mine was second hand no parts bags just the truck radio and battery, i found a manual on ebay for a few bucks but would love to know what spare parts were offered. I have only seen a Hot Racing link mount on there lately. Ill keep my eyes peeled for one unless i just do the entire hot racing setup

I'll take a picture of the spare parts when I get the chance. Here's a picture of the 4-link mount.

thank you.

That looks slightly different than the hot racing mount ive seen online. that is my hesitation with it. slightly different geometry with the way hpi used bent rod ends i fear. i have yet to see the hot racing setup in person so i dont know for sure

I ended up driving this truck at Zia Scale Nationals in Class 1. I had a great time and had I not had issues with the winch and radio settings I would have done much better. since returning home I have played around to figure out the winch settings and keep the radio from losing them. I also grabbed the rear link mount from ebay as well as a set of links from crawler central. I will probably not use the steering just the lowers and the rear uppers. I feel really happy with the way this build has progressed and beyond a front and rear bumper I am not desiring much change from this build.

Dx4c has an issue with remembering switches and avc or some shit. Have to set it turn avc on then off the resatart radio and reset or something stupid spectrum should have fixed

Ah I see. I had a DX4S with no issues until the scroll wheel started playing up, which isn't unusual on Spektrum radios. Still work, but my Noble is fantastic and actually better quality.

Had some good trailing with this truck over the summer. The setup has been very reliable for multiple hour runs. Need to look into further upgrades like bumpers and interior still but I do enjoy it despite issues with hpi

Hey man, where and how did you mount your winch servo?

That's likely a future change I'll make to mine, but I have no idea about servo mounting for the winch.

No servo winch here just the rc4wd warn setup

Great build up! I am doing one now very similar... I think I have added even more brass than you!

I too am waiting on hex rotors to space out the wheels. The front inner tires are really close to the top plate steering linkage mounts on the knuckles.

I found the Beef Tips went on the shocks really easy from the bottom. The stock retainer can pop off to the side, then drop off the springs, and unscrew the lower mount. I used a folded piece of rubber on the shock shaft with needle nose. (used a rubber band at first too.)

I plan on doing a build thread once I can post pictures... In the meantime, I have couple vids on the Tube of build and pre-post weigh-ins/post trail test.
Venture Build You can see we have a lot of the same choices.

Anyways, very nice build. Good choice on products (I wish those SSD knuckles still existed!)

-I am loving mine for sure.
