Now that Photobucket has finished whatever maintenance they were doing...I was able to upload progress pics.
I mocked up the body on the chassis, and for whatever reason, the wheelbase is off a scoshe....
More like 1/2".
OK, what would Noob do???
He'd throw it away. It's a Dudge.
But wait, He's building an old Chevy?
Maybe he does have a place in his heart for domestic vehicles....
So I cut off the front of the bed. Make a few 1/2" strips on the bandsaw, and start to re-construct the front of the bed. I thought while I'm at it, I could make the rear lower fill panel too.
The "old" bed front might end up as the tailgate...
I still need to raise the rear bed sides a bit, but for now it helps to have everything sitting level.
Ok. Now that the bed is a bit longer....
Cool. So I decide to work on the chassis for a bit.
I need to get it back down (or close) to factory ride height.
After dealing with a few stripped button heads (valve grinding compound is your friend!!) I rebuilt the EMU's without springs for the rear, and installed shorter shocks on the front.
I am merely guessing at this point, because I never had the truck new. So I'm not sure what goes where, as far as shock length. So I just go with what "looks" right.
So, I still need to figure out a few more things...
like where the battery will go...and how to mount it...
But, its getting closer to being driveable...
