AnimalHippie's Trx-4 Adventure

Haven't done allot to the rig this weekend. Did install the 3d printed lower battery tray that Ernie sent me with my rig. Also working on a modification to the stock front bumper to get some more clearance. Haven't been able to see if the battery tray made any difference due to it raining for the past 3 days. I'll post some pictures once I'm done with the bumper mod. Hope everyone has a great day!

Rain rain rain....... we've been getting hammered with rain here in Florida. Haven't been able to do much crawling. I have found that wet rocks makes for an extremely interesting crawl. The iroks don't seem to like the wet rocks at all. The stock tires (small Lugs cut out) stock rims & foams seem to do better on the wet rocks. Going to boil the tires off the stock rims this weekend & put them on the ssd wheels with the Codyboy foams & see how they work out. Will do testing with all 3 set ups just to see what works best. Also been adjusting droop set up to see what works best. Liking the 60/40 droop set up the best. Think I might leave it alone. What's the hype with the Traxxas spring kit? Should I get one or just run what I have? Hope everyone is enjoying my newbie build. Have a great day!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I definitely enjoyed 3 days off. Brought home another bed full of rocks on Friday. Messed around & made a nice rock planter "wink wink" :) . Also added a little to the backyard course. It was pretty rainy here most of the weekend, but got to do some crawling.

Had some time in the garage & did some tire testing. The iroks on the ssd wheels with codyboy foams climbed a little better then the cut canyon trails on stock tires & foams, but not much better. This test was done on a 3/4" sheet of plywood (fairly slick) at a 45° angle. Used the same plywood for the side hill test. @ about 37° the iroks did much better. The stock foams are too soft & couldn't keep from rolling the truck. I was about to boil the tires off the stock rims when I realized that I didn't have anything anywhere small enough to take the beadlock rings off the ssd rims to switch tires. So that'll have to wait. As for performance on the rocks running the same line on my backyard course. The cut canyon trails out perform the Iroks. Once I get a tool to get the beadlocks apart I will do my final testing & have pics.

Also started cutting some sheet aluminum to make a tool box for inside the bed. Will post build pics once it's together. Here's a couple pics from this weekend. Have a great day!

Added some fine graded rubber to a pool of E6000 to make it black. Worked pretty good & still has a good solid hold.

Nice trick, and I like the way you've doubled up the cage on the bed

I was just picking up more E6000 and noticed they have it in black too.

Done for the night, but not to bad for just an hour playing in the garage. Still needs some work, but it's coming together.

Hey Justin, your truck is really coming along nicely!!!!
Nice trick on the E6000 and rubber shavings, way to think outside the box.
They do make the E6000 in black, I use it over the clear most of the time. "thumbsup"

Hey Ernie, thank you sir!!! That's what Humboldt was saying. Nate also said shoe goo comes in black as well. No where local had anything that dried black. So I found a old solid rubber tire at work & hacked me a piece off. Used one of my wood files to shave off some rubber dust. Worked really good. Seemed to dry alittle faster, but still has a good strong hold. Hope you & Marcia are enjoying your trip :)

That's ok brotha I'll get some next time I order off the internet. Thank you though. Glad to hear you guys had a good safe trip. Love the pics! Looks like you guys had a blast. Wish I coulda been there! Maybe one day we'll hit the lotto & be able to do some traveling. I'm ready to find a good local event going on, but it looks like I have to wait for September for a big event. RRW Krawlzone has comps 2 times a month, but I don't think my rig is ready for a comp yet. 0 scale points and no weight on the axles yet. Soon though! Working on my tool box & a couple other scale ideas. Also designing some low profile steel bumpers for my rig. Pics to come soon

I have ssd rims and am awaiting a 2mm tool from ssd but is on back order.

I don't have a pik but I made my own 2mm socket head out of an 2mm allen head screw and a length of brass tubing.

just a bit of silver solder and you have a functional(albiet ugly) tool.

I didn't think of that..... can't believe I didn't think of that. I've made big Allen wrenches with bolts plenty of times. Thanks brotha I'll be trying that out.
