3D printed sway bar bracket/light mount (WIP)

I made one last version with more holes so folks can play around with the sway bar placement. I also made an version of that without the light mount for those that dont need it.

I did end up starting over on fusion 360 as my last design worked but after modifying it a bunch I broke it and couldnt figure out why. Starting over was probably quicker than troubleshooting. I did my best to design in the right order, the last one was all mixed up.

So I just got a 3D printer and so far I've mostly just been collecting designs on Thingiverse so I can print them, ...

If they're designs you really want, I would recommend downloading them now. Had a bunch I had collected that were all designed by one guy, put them all in a collection, then when I went to download them later he had pulled all his designs...

I suppose they're ready to be put up on Thingiverse, I might upload them tonight. I think your son will be a good tester, I dont think he'll hold back, lol.

I guess I can always put in a note that these are still a work in progress.

Its now available on Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3365848

There's a version with the light mount and one without it.

I was a bit confused about what license to choose, I went with Public Domain. If anyone has some insight I'd appreciate it, searching brought up all kind of other topics.
EDIT: looks like most people use the Creative Commons Attribution

Received mine for testing, print quality looks very good, thanks Casey! :)

Been thinking about the K10 and wish somebody made a nylon rollcage extension part with a second rollbar hoop and little extensions to fit between them so that this body would fit on WB4. IIRC somebody here cut up a second cage and made similar, but all one piece printed would be nice. :)

Ok I've got the design finalized

I had to go back to fusion 360 to move the sway bar location back 1mm as it was just barely grazing the diff cover and bolts on my truck. I've extended my wheelbase so the axle is farther back than normal.

So I'm thinking for this to work well for others that it should probably have multiple sway bar mount holes for different wheelbases. I'm guessing clearances will be different for different builds.

These are pretty cool. "thumbsup"
You going to sell them?

I think a sway bar would be worth trying out on a ascender.

Thanks, I'm not selling them but I have put them up on Thingiverse so anyone can download and print a set.

I was planning to print some up and bring them to the By the Fire event, I'd be happy to bring you a set or however many you want.

Oh, that would be awesome. "thumbsup"

I don't have a printer, but sooner or later someone in our group is gonna end up with one.

That's a really great design. I currently use the extra mounting tabs on the ascender honcho for taillights. I'm not sure what those were originally designed in there for.
And I think a swaybar would go a long way to cutting TT.

Cool I'll get a set with the light mount ready, looks like you're using the same lights I designed the light mount for (the axial medium sized buckets).

The sway bar really does get rid of the TT and If you dont mind losing the "flex" you get to do some fun 3 wheelin like a leaf sprung truck would do. I enjoy seeing the truck teeter around and 3 wheelin "thumbsup"

Hey Casey, got mine yesterday, very nice!! I will put them one of my builds when I finish my VS4 build. I can't believe how far you've come in the hobby the last few years! Although knowing you, it doesn't surprise me at all. You are one of the great out of the box thinkers on here. And glad to hear you say that you'll bring some to PBF instead of if I come I'll bring some. "thumbsup"

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad the brackets made it through.

You did change my mind on By The Fire, I WILL be coming. I dont really take vacations so this will qualify as one.
