By suggestion of Tat76, I am starting this thread to document and let everyone know when we plan on crawling...

My first trip for the year was yesterday...

Edit, insert ratings... Kelly Island off spurgin road...6/10 My go to spot during the winter, a great spot in the winter when the trails are iced over. You can take 2hours to hit most of the hill climbs and run the creek bed around. There is usually mud, sand an dirt to find, and one technical hill. The hill climbs are a lot more challenging when there is snow on the ground.

My my Wife, (pink&white Twin Hammers) her brother (Orange Hilux) and Comet71 (Red K5) joined me on Kelly Island.
Anyway pictures...

Don't know why this one is sideways???

Went out with Slow-go (Black Dodge)today climbed up the north side trail to the M...

Edit,... Insert ratings... 7/10 its a little tough for a scale crawler, though it has some great overlooks. You can easily spend 3+ hours doing a full loop, going up the left and coming down the switch backs.

It is a awesome trail, a bit to technical for my 650, belly clearance issues, lol. But the winch and buddy helped me out. There are a few spots only a super class comp crawler could make. But a lot of fun and quite a few comments from other hikers on the trail.

I'm surprised you didn't get crap from hikers. I was pushing my mtn bike down the m trail and I thought I was going to be assaulted. People seemed rather upset We rode to the top of the mtn via deer Creek and we were not going back lol.

Most of the hikers said the trucks were awesome, and a few stood to watch us hit obstacles, split about 50/50 for those who said something and those who just walked by.

I'm actually shocked you see people on the left trail. When hiking it at most would see one other person so I didn't even bother putting leashes on my dogs but I'm betting this time of year it's pretty busy.

Deep Creek Hill
Loose rocky dirt hill makes for a challenging climb and if you screw up you could find out how many rolls it takes to get to the bottom. :ror:
This area has everything from river rock, sand, water crossings and dirt trails. From easy to technical can be found with areas for gatherings.

TAT76 Rating: 7/10
Comet71 Rating: 6/10

Is this up the west side of Missoula, by the shooting range? Could You throw a Google maps spot up maybe?

Yes, go toward frenchtown on mullan, then that road to the gun range follow that until you hit dirt, keep going until you come to a bridge, don't go over the bridge, go to the river, little rough, but not to bad. Hill climb is on the right!

Mullan rd, turn left on Kona. Stay on road till you get to bridge. This area is know as old Harper's bridge. There's hill climbs on both sides...

Harpers bridge is a fun area. I never thought about taking my crawler there lol. Use to ride up there and get in trouble in our jeeps

Rode dirtbikes and quads in that area from the early 90 to 05 when they shut it down to riders. All the old trails are still there u just need to walk past the calihumps they dug in to stop motored vehicals. Hundreds of miles of rock, dirt, cliffs and hillclimbs if u just know where they are.
Bridge is cool but majority is river rock and punks so I like to go back further away from population.. :flipoff:
