Turns out the first attempt came in at 1.75 scale. That's a bit too large so I scaled it down to ~1:8.3 and started over. This is about 9 hours' work:
The bed is way longer than the 1:1 but it has to fit the Bronco chassis. The doors now open. Latches will work as soon as I figure out or source some tiny torsion springs. Another thing I did was to bolt the cab and bed to a sub-frame so if one gets hosed I can make a new one and replace.
Next the hood needs hinges, it needs a windscreen, and it's getting a roof because that, when lowered, will offer some padding when this thing takes a tumble. Will also add an inside for the cab, some detail to the bed, and mud guards.
