1/6 Wraith/Nylint TJ Jeep + scale quad

Port Hueneme
that's were I was stationed with nmcb-3
near a 5 year tour there... then 2 more at NTC San Diego.
did some try out exercises in Coronado too...
but got married and decided to get out... raise my family as civilians
^ because I had been a military brat myself... and always wished I hadn't been.

USN 1980 - 1987 TIS

Hey Taco

check this out

I appreciate your search...
but the 1/18 rc's/static models are too small.

Tho' the chassis can be 1/16 - 1/18
the body shell still needs be 1/6 -1/7
to resemble a scale appearance.

so if ya find a static toy/model...
or dead 1/6 -1/7 rc with quad body intact...
let me know.

I think I can alter the Wraith's interior tunnel
to obtain a similar look.
But I was hoping for something easier.

You have one in #18 there is a picture of one. It's Yellow with a gray cage.
....Oh the Scorpion body. gotchya

I had contemplated using that one for my current build...
But the fact I had two 1/6 Nylint TJ bodies lead me that direction.

Tho' my Scorpion may still see a similar conversion in it's future.

Thought I'd share some results here...

inkjet printed... laminated decal

...Water proof/resistance test...

Was submerged in h2o for over 1 hour.

Seriously I found you a

1/7th scale Quad

they sell it at Toys R Us and looks pretty cheesy

is about a foot in length

Its the scale you wanted but the detail and realism are not there

that's why I suggested the die cast, but they are not to scale

I think this is the way to go

check this out

this is a 1/10th scale Golf Cart body on a SCX10 chassis

and with it sitting on the trailer behind the guy's Jeep

it does not look right, cause the cart is the same size and Jeep pulling it

But with your 1/5th scale Jeep cause it almost 2 feet long

and the same trailer and a ATV or Golf cart body might look right

^ but I'm not looking for a golf cart numbskull :flipoff:

tho' that toys R' us quad might work...
heck all I need off of it is the plastic body shell.

I didn't see a current item FS at toys R' us...
you have a fs link of where to purchase ?

I found similar... listed outta china I think.
But haven't pulled the trigger on that yet.

oh... and never was I a fan of riding a bi-pedal couch...

instead... I rolled this...

I did all the polish work by hand...
think I traded off a few year of life in doing that

but it was bling purdy "thumbsup"

oh... and was a 200 mph ride
if'n ya had the nutz. ;-)

wished I'd have never sold it

a guy on here took a 1/12 body that is die cast

and put the body on a MRC chassis

its a lot of work but check it out

me I like the realism

MRC's are discontinued but a Exceed might work

here is the name of the build above

1/12 Losi Micro Vinson 4x4 ATV

on here

^ found this Kidz Tech 84331 RC Kawasaki Brute Force 750 ATV 1 6 Scale Camo Realtree | eBay

looks to be very similar to what you posted...
but is listed as being 1/6... tho' ya never know with ebay chit.

Because of the inconsistencies with rc scale...
it's quite possible a 1/12 scale might work.

But I don't know that... 'til I know.

I could probably stretch or widen a plastic body shell
if push comes to shove.

Taco

what I did was go to google

typed in 1/7th scale RC ATV / Quad

and the Fast Lane one came up

click on something about it

it said it came from Toy's R' Us online it was in stock at Toy's R' Us site Google took me too

there is a Toys R' Us in Reno, NV its been awhile since I been there

when I went looking for hard bodies didn't see anything special but I grabbed the Blown Engine Sets

I do remember seeing the ATV, and it was a blue Yamaha

I just looked and they got a Duki, a Suzuki

a red one, the green Kawi must be older

the dimensions say its 17.1 X 11.7 X 8.5

so it may actually be 1/7th scale

because the 1/18th scale die cast ATV was only 9'' long so the scale or something not right

so it may be scale enough or too big

Taco, HPI use to sell a lexan quad body that fits SCT chassis's, you can still find them on e-bay once in a while

I think that HPI has discontinued those...

however...

I did find a Kawi KFX 700 clear lexan body at Stormer Hobbies...

HPI Clear Kawasaki 700 Quad body ATV Savage-requires painting, HPI7195

tho' I haven't checked to be sure of it's availability, yet.

^ I think it might be too big tho'

edit: yeah a little too big fo sho

http://www.savagehobbies.com/index...._id=26&zenid=d48ed1a88071535ac34c21a12bded759

according to my calculations...
based off a 1:1 Kawi KFX 700

72.5" L = 12.08"(306.08mm) for 1/6 scale
47." W = 7.83"(198.88mm) for 1/6 scale
46.1" H = 7.68"(195.07mm) for 1/6 scale
50.6 WB = 8.43"(214.12mm) for 1/6 scale

I'm gonna go check my local walmart...
and see if this one is on the shelf...

...I know
btw... yer not the only one whom has done some searching on my behalf.
others have pm'd me with some leads/links as well...
and I have been busy wading thru the internet clutter muhself.

Yeah I'm guessing they're not on the shelves @ Wally World...
but might be... as we near the Christmas holiday season.

No fire under muh seat...
as I'd prefer to check them out in person...
prior to a purchase.

Online shopping sucks... as many proprietors
fail to list the specifications that I need.

and if I inquire with them... they don't know poo :x

welp... old fart kgb should be happy !? ;-)

picked up that blue yamaha sold at walmart, toysRus, etc.

was only $ 20. so I had to.

The scale size looks to be near perfect...
but I still need purchase the rc chassis,
I hope to utilize for this build. (1/16 Exceed Maxstone rtr)

If it works out in my favor...
I won't have much more then $ 100. invested in this quad build.

 :crosses fingers:

edit: checking Joe's fitment...

^ looks to be... close enough for me ;-)
