1/6 Wraith/Nylint TJ Jeep + scale quad

That's the same setup I bought a few months ago, too use for one of my 1/6th scales and also bought the matching steel idler gear and drive gear

It just took over a month for delivery, and will not use them again
same vendor ?

I received mine two weeks after it was ordered, shipped fm N. Carolina. I'm not sure what yer doing wrong !? Lol

Low purchase cost and Stateside dealings it was ;-)

Stop buying yer junk directly fm china... you obviously choose the wrong vendors most every order :flipoff:

waiting is good for ya tho'... will help you work out those patience issues you're having.

No I tried Aliexpress and got screwed, normally I use Fleabay and get in 2 weeks from China when I have to

Most of the time, I do pick parts from states on the west coast and get fast deliveries

I ordered some parts for my Tamiya off of Fleabay and they came from Japan in 2 weeks

A few pictures of what it was and has become... (side by side comparison)

From: 1/6 Nylint Walmart RC crawler --- To: 1/6 Wraith - Nylint hybrid RC crawler

^ those are dual 3s 2200's wired in parallel. I use a Castle 10 Ga. parallel harness to combine them.

4400 mah probably nets me around 3 - 4 hrs run time, maybe longer.
But I honestly haven't run it long enough for the ESC's LVC to shut it down.

I generally drive slow, geared low... maybe for only 2 - 3 hours before I grow bored.
So that's probably got something to do with it.

I've been contemplating buying a series harness and see how my crawler holds up to 6s power !?

Tho' I'm hoping that I can still drive it with a soft touch !? = maybe.

Will still probably net me enough run time to sedate my short lived fix.

That's if my HH's 35t motor can hold up ?
Does using twice the voltage equate to reducing the motor's brush life equally ?

Still need to purchase that Castle 10 Ga. series harness. ~ mostly 'cuz I'm too lazy to solder one up ~

So I have one saved in a cart, just need pull the trigger on that.

^ done... so we shall see how that goes

But forever being a pessimist, guess I wasn't in too big of a hurry to pony up to the likelihood of breakage/expenditure.

--- just a heads up on the running of 6s thru my e components ---

Received my series harness today.

Plugged that in initially using dual 2s LiPo's for the first run.
Definitely increased torque/speed... but I wanted more still.

So I plugged in my dual 3s LiPo's using the series harness for it's 2nd maiden voyage.
And all I gotta say... is that my 12 lb 1/6 scale slug is now bad ass.

Didn't smoke the HH's 35T expt motor during the first 4 - 5 minutes into the run.
So I'm pleased about that.

Tho' I'll suppose I could kill this motor if I geared it too tall or drove it like I stole it !?
But would probably break lots of other components during that abuse.

Think I'll buy me that Traxxas 21T Titan... to see if 6s kills that at a lesser investment cost.

Thus saving my HH 35T for 3s use.

Nice to know that my BR/XL is up to the task of 6s voltage.

If I can locate and run a motor that survives the voltage abuse... I could become bored with utilizing 3s voltage.

My only other option would be going brushless/sensor...
and I may... But that's gonna become an expensive investment for a short lived, occasional thrill.

As it stands....
I can double the motor's power... simply by switching which harness I utilize. Easy and quick to do.

And this applies to my K.I.S.S. approach.

btw... 6s has my 12 lb 1/6 scale slug pulling it's trailer and quad with mucho gusto. 8) "thumbsup"

I think the trailer serves as a wheelie bar and keeps the 1/6 Jeep from doing wheel stands (and roll backs).

hmm... must remove trailer and retest ! Lol

...eventually I'll get that done. But the forecast has rain in it for next few days.

Was gonna do a quick video in my driveway showing the 3s Vs. 6s voltage.
But thought that might not look too off road appealing.

But if I get a break in this rain... just might be what I do.

'cuz a video makes it real ;-)

Here ya go Mike. Comparison time

remember this 1/6 crawler weighs in around 12 lbs.
add another 5 lbs if towing the trailer with quad perched atop that.

https://youtu.be/J1BMM51y25M

Could it go faster ?

probably by a lot if I geared it up some.
But that's not what I was after.

I was wanting super torque and dead stop acceleration.

'cuz I secretly wanna be Superman, not the Flash !? Lol

You could compete in desert races with that on 6s, that sucker's quick!
Good of you to say so 8)

a responding user on youtube says it's slow and slightly less slow !? Lol
guessing he don't know the difference between a crawler and a rocket sled.

Thing is... I can control this brush set up smoothly from dead 0... either 3s or 6s
it's perfectly linear and throttle response is smooth as butter at any speed.

Gotta be sensor/brushless to net the same performance.
But that's more coin then I have doing nothing at the moment.
Or maybe I'm just not in a big hurry to throw more coin at this black hole. Lol

the fact that I think it's ballzy on 6s... is good enough for me "thumbsup"

Very nice Dell, "thumbsup""thumbsup" I posted over in Paint & Body too
...I saw
thanks for your acknowledgement and praise "thumbsup"

It is definitely a different beast then when you owned it,
as it's been warmed over just a bit.

Tows/rolls really nice... as is.

I still can't ignore the fact that it needs a separate frame under the tub.
But that's a lot of work... even if I might obtain the appropriate sized steel rails.

I'm still contemplating that idea if I can acquire the properly sized frame material...
^ maybe 5/16" or 3/8" (but only found 1/2" at this point)

Might still make an attempt if I can locate the appropriately sized weldable sq. steel tube.

See if you can find BigSki's Jeep and Trailer build, he fabricated his own trailer with I think 1/4 or 3/8 steel box tube.

More color !? = ( 8) safety 1st )

~ I remembered to reinstall that tail lights on the trailer this round ~

I think the replicated yamaha rc quad breaks up the orange somewhat.

All there's left to do now is to add (make) some scale accessories/gear.
^ something to do during my idle time.

I'm trying to find a 24" canoe to strap on top the TJ.
Mostly for show, but it's gotta be functional and lightweight too.

Think a 3D printer is up to the task ?

The action figure couple seek optional adventures...
They said so in muh head :flipoff:

3D printed canoe would probably be lighter and less top heavy. I have a canoe, but it's an old Leinenkugel Honey Weiss beer tapper handle. It's made out of fiberglass, and requires some bodywork where the label tag and tapper mount was taken out, and it's only 8 or 9 inches long. Kinda looks like this.

Head over to the local watering hole and see if they have any. Sometimes the beer distributors let the bars have them when they replace the particular brand with another. That's how I got this one.

^ that's purdy cool if I were a tap handle collector.

But that's not very close to the 24" - 27" canoe I need.

I found some really setailed wooden canoes that are 24" - 27" long...
but they tend to be too heavy and expensive for what I want.

But if detail were the primary goal... they're not lacking in that.

I had to go back through the thread myself, it's been a while since I've looked at it. I'm reasonably sure that it was 1/2" square tubing, it was whatever the smallest stuff I found at Home Depot.

Jeeptrailer050.jpg

ZoSo added this in his collection more than a few years ago, you could try PMing him to see if he still has it. I'm sure he would get some basic dimensions off of it for you.

1/2" would be too big and heavy... and I'd have to cut that down.
But I don't really have the proper tools for doing that well.

I found 1/4" sq. tube... but it was coming outta china.
I'll look again... mcmaster carr must sell something I can use.

If it were local for me to obtain the metal I needed...
I would likely already have this done.

What currently exists on the trailer seems to be holding up fine...
But it could look somewhat more to scale I'd think.

Found this 3/8" outta Michigan... but they're listing it for $ 30. for just 12"
plus another $ 15. to ship ?

^ that's nuts even for fleabay crap

I'll likely just 3D print a frame before spending ridiculous amounts of coin for steel.

It very well may have been 3/8", I honestly don't remember and I didn't say in the build thread. Go to HD and see what they have, it's where I purchased the material.
I do remember how cool it sounded when the chassis was getting dragged over rocks. I should build another one.
