1/6 Wraith/Nylint TJ Jeep + scale quad

LOL, Joe and Cory need to unload the trailer, put the canvas top back on, and Joe needs to knock out a little nookie:lmao:
that'd be a little beyond my normal doll play
How much am I getting paid ?

Plus Joe has nothing to nail nookie with !? :|

Maybe I should buy a Phicen male figure...
and produce doll poon for a profit (or the homeless)

aka: Robot Chicken eXXXtreem !? Lol

~ Lots of perverts out there... I should be rich in no time !? ~

Hmm, think I found this thread at the wrong time. Seems to have gone way off topic.

Anyway, love the build using the Nylint body. I have 2 of the Jeeps just lying around collecting dust. Always wondered if I could ever make a better crawler and use the body. I might have to try this but I cannot weld which would require sourcing someone. I know if I ended up doing something like this is wouldn't be nearly as good.

I already started searching ways to do this without welding and a few ways may work but would be haggard at best. So how is the performance with the longer wheelbase? Better or worse than the wrath original wheelbase?

First off, you'd need to know the characters, we've know each other through the forums for a couple years."thumbsup"

While Taco made an excellent chassis for his Jeep, you can use stock scx-10 framerails with a wraith skid, or there are numerous framerails made by other vendors on RCC to help you in your endeavor, without any welding.

Check out the first couple pages of my G.I. Joe Jeep build for ideas. I used the scx-10 rails and had to customize the Wraith skid a little to get it to fit.

Oh ok so you all know eachother. No biggie. I'm new and wasn't sure if the posts were just screwing around or not.
Thank you for the info I will definitely check your Jeep build. Great to know that I could do this without welding. Makes me want to take this on even more.

I thought about getting a wraith and runnig it while I mess around with wraith skid and frame on the side. Then once I get it mounted right just swapping components over.

yeah just foolin' around with the regular followers

I'll get 'er back on the build topic momentarily.
Mostly done... but have a few other detail things to add.

Check out this guys frame construction...
No welding required ;-)

And Mike's build using the SCX-10 chassis...

Thank you for the links, I'll look them over closely. SCX10 rails might be my choice. I was wondering how I'd do cross braces. Links are perfect. Just waiting on tax return and I'll be getting a wraith.

I'll keep checking in to see what else you do. Great work. Are those your youtube vids I came across? Looks like it crawls nicely.

thanks... it really is a decent build...
has some high quality e components installed.

If yer looking to build a reliable crawler...
the electronics are worthy of their additional expense the first time around.
But you don't need the very best/most expensive stuff to do it well.

I have managed to build this using a poor mans budget in mind...
mostly because I'm poor !? Lol

^ probably why it's taken me this long to complete.
or maybe it's because I just needed something to keep me busy.

It's likely if you found a video posted here in this build thread...
I've posted it.

https://www.youtube.com/user/TTORADell/videos

This set up does very well off road/crawling...
Especially when its scale realism is taken into consideration.
It's definitely not yer WFO racer - basher type crawler.
But it could be if ya wanted.
I like it mostly because it's bigger then what's commonly available.

When you build in 1:6 scale to fit 12" GI Joe action figures and like...
You find that there's not much support for that...
And most conversions require a donor body from a larger toy.

And it's not generally a bolt on and go deal.
As you'll be opening up a whole new realm of RC
that will require you make more of your own stuff
then you can buy.

But what makes my build really special is...

by removing 8 screws from the chassis....
and the 4 screws holding the upper shocks to the towers.

It can be changed over in minutes to become 1:10 scale Wraith again...
And I have a brand new Wraith chassis sitting in its original box...
waiting for that day.

Of course I like it the way it is...
so I doubt that day will ever come.

Maybe I've just become an RC parts hoarder of sorts !?

Think I should go thru all my collections of extras and spare parts...
and get rid of that stuff I'll probably never use !? Lol

Dang... I've been working on this project since July '15 !?

^ That's longer then I spent reconstructing/building up my 1:1 M100 trailer.

Completion is nice... if your desire is to drive it immediately.
Probably should buy an RTR for that.

I had another RTR RC Crawler I could operate...
while this one was being built up.
Of course... that one got improved along the way as well.

Great as my SCX-10 is...
It's kinda boring when compared next to my 1:6 TJ Jeep build.

Don't let the girls fool ya with their denial...

Bigger is better ;-) Lol

-----------------------

Look forward to you getting your tax refund...
and starting up your own build thread.

I'll follow along for the entertainment of that "thumbsup"

Made up these loading ramps for the quad...

~ they are keyed ontop the trailer's tub (top rail) so they don't shift when loading. (detail pics later) ~

They fit and can be stowed/carried underneath the quad when loaded. (between it's wheels)
Though I may place them underneath the trailer if I make some brackets to hold them there.

~ I'll create a video of the quad driving up onto the trailer shortly ~

Outstanding Dell"thumbsup", quite a nice animation there too, you oughta think about selling your services to Hollyweird"thumbsup"

Thanks Mike,

I got a seriously long ride...
before HollyWeird takes notice.

But I'll hope I can make a longer video one day
that has some sort of story line in it.

Perhaps I could make a Robot Chicken excerpt
if I blow something up ? Lol

bought this 'cuz it was cheaper then just buying an 87T steel spur gear.

[
So I installed only the spur gear onto my original slipper clutch.
Bolted on directly... aligns with the pinion perfectly and seems to be round with no visual run out.

Worthy of it's purchase.
Will save the other hardware/components for another day ;-)

That's the same setup I bought a few months ago, too use for one of my 1/6th scales and also bought the matching steel idler gear and drive gear

It just took over a month for delivery, and will not use them again
