1/6 Hemi powered Willys Jeep Hot Rod

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade

Hey all, got a lot more done the past couple nights.
She is just about complete now.

It was suggested to me that a Magnito might be a better option over the distributor....so off to re-work I went.

Then it was time for cleaning up the wiring. I found a place on line with 1/8" braided wire loom. PERFECT fit.

That's all for now. Still needs some work, but it's getting there.
Thanks for looking.

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade

Thanks Bob, for the tranny I am just going to make the bell housing. It will be all you can see once installed.
I am thinking of trying to form it with some fiberglass and foam.

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade **Update 5/5**

One word: OUTSTANDING!!!

Most people have no idea how much skill, talent, time, and dedication
it takes to do this type of scaled down work. (OH, and $$$$ too!)

But that puppy looks like its ready for crateing to be sent to the
local speed shop for a DYNO test.

Seriously, it looks like if you bridged the starter solenoid,
the damn thing would start up and run right on the bench LOL! "thumbsup"

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade **Update 5/5**

cant wait to see what this goes in "thumbsup"... would look sweet with an r3 tranny mated up to the rear with the motor in the hemi ... now ya got me thinkin

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade **Update 5/5**

Thanks everyone.
Brandon, the motor may be going inside yet, if it does, it will have a smaller tranny of some kind with it.

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade **Update 5/5**

just started my build thread... the r3 tranny looks pretty close to the right scale, i think i might get one of these bad boys and try jamming them together... if you dont beat me to it ;-).

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade **Update 5/5**

Saw your thread Brandon, nice collection of parts that's for sure.
If your tossing one of these in a stock body Willys, you'll need a shoe horn. They are a very tight fit. Looking forward to what you try.

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade **Update 5/5**

i see what you mean by a very tight fit... i found this pic earlier today...
perhaps a smaller motor is in order... lol

any chance you can tell me how long the motor is?... so i can make sure i get a shorter motor.

oh yea and sorry about drifting your thread a lil off subject

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade **Update 5/12**

Today's update

Need a place for the motor.
Unused engine block, test fitting.

IMG_2778.jpg

Making the mounting plate, 1/16" Aluminum.
IMG_2779.jpg

Mounted to Hemi with motor inside. Plenty of clearance so I am hoping I will not see a heat issue.
IMG_2781.jpg

Start of the transmission.

That is all for tonight, more later.

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade **Update 5/12**

Well, BigSki asked and since it's Mother's day..............

Here is what I will attempt to make. I still need to get the body, waiting for it to get back in stock.

I thought the Hemi would look more bad a$$ in it then what they have.
It will have a full width Twin force rear axle and a home made front.

It will be called...

HOTRAD Jeep.

There ya have Big, hoping to get more parts soon.

Re: 1/6 Hemi upgrade **Update 5/12**

Small update time.
I started on the front chassis, I am starting this first with out the body being here yet.

Hemi offset engine mounts done.

Here you can see how the tranny will be mounted to the engine.
Shaft comes off of 55T directly to tranny.

I had a friend draw up the front suspension brackets with CAD and they are at the water jet now. Until then, this is really all I can do.
The bracket circled in Red.
