I've been considering FPV for awhile now but don't know much about it besides what I've seen in a few youtube videos. The tech changes fast and I haven't seen any recent threads here on the topic. Dromida makes RTRs that come with FPV, but I want to add it to an existing R/C.

So what's the best FPV system for a noob just trying it out? The budget is $200 max, and plug-and-play would be preferred. Any current FPV pros care to drop some knowledge?

This was under $200
Basic and cheap

Not fantastic but a good start.
It needs it's own power source (2nd battery)
When hooked to the Cars battery, it would black out under stress (If the car got jamb up crawling)

I fabbed up a mount and a 2nd servo to steer the camera when the wheels turn. :)

My LHS races bone stock tamiya grass hoppers FPV. They add a camera an that is it. No mods allowed. It is a blast! I don't know if I could crawl FPV. It seems like all I ever look at is the front tire lol...

That's really freaking cool! I wish I had local fun races like that. "thumbsup"

You can buy RTF Blade Inductrix FPVs. They always seem to be on sale anymore. I forget if the transmitter is sold separately. They are indoor "tiny whoop" drones.

I think its that tactic system. The shop is big on running bone stock class in crawling and racing. It lets people in and the money doesn't always win. It makes you drive your ass off! I was allowed to stretch my f100 ascender out to 12.3 but thats about it. There are some killer rigs up there but we found it keeps people away when someone brags about their $1200 rig. We're working on some rental vehicles. I think a Thursday night league would be sweet in winter.

I have a Goolrc drone that has FPV, and can wifi to my phone. Not sure how big the cam is, I might have to take a look at it when I get home.

Knd of like driving a real crawler, when your strapped in and front end is up in the air it’s hard to see anything

And older thread, but I thought I would drag it out...

Looking at getting a FPV system that I can swap from rig to rig. After a bit of research, I like the Walksnail Goggles-L package with the camera and gimble. The whole mess runs around $600, and is intended for noobs (like me), but it is digital with great video quality and range.

RC Girl's review:

Thoughts?

i stuffed my camera and transmitter inside a old tire stuff all the camera stuff in there with a small 2s lipo sends the video to my phone
i just strap it to the roof of what ever

i have the gimble to mount the camera in that pans left and right and up n down but cant figure out what rig to use it in lol
