What did you do today?

Took the day off of work (vaca day so with pay). Took the cat to the Vet, she has a split in her pad on her back paw. that was over 1/2 of my days pay. lol Then took care of a few things for my HVAC guys that got here at 830ish this am to start my install.

not done yet. they'll be back Monday. But overall a chill day, as it was barely 63f...

Couldn't find what I was looking (losi RZR rey chassis leftovers, to drill the HPI Rs4 rally chassis) on my shelf full of projects and rollers and such, when I stumbled opon this assembly before welding it.

It's an axle brace with an intergrated servo holder for on a Tamiya Clodbuster where you add the servo for rigidity.

It was to be silver soldered, but i had the Lincoln 140 out and turned everything down to low. Not too bad for flux core wire, imho.

I just couldn't help myself for some reason.

Beat the dents and straightened out the bed panels on my '87 Toyota with 100k miles today. My daughter I guess thought it needed a few wrinkles. I'm glad that the truck was hit in the bed and not the drivers door. She was very lucky. She thought I'd be upset. I'm not at all. I'm just glad she is ok with a few bruises. I told her that we can just put stickers all over that section.

Speaking of desks - when I moved recently I decided it would be the perfect time for a bigger desk.

I use an IKEA drafting table style desk, and the top doesn't have to be permanently attached, just resting on the trestles.

The prices for everything I looked at had gone up noticeably of late - until I had a weird thought - why not use a door?

I ended up using a white steel door, and run all my monitor and speaker cables through the holes for the doorknob and deadbolt.

Turned out great!

At almost 58 yrs old, decided to finally prepare Thanksgiving for the very first time. Hit up the grocery store at 6:30 this morning and I think I'm ready.

The planned spread-

Turkey ( 10 1/2lb Butterball)
Homemade: Stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn casserole, green-bean casserole.
Store bought: Hawaiian rolls, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie/ Cool Whip

Total bill was about $65... not too bad. That included roasting pan and baster. And no sweet potato/ yam anything... Never cared for that taste and neither does my wife. Plus I'll have my hands full enough as it is. We'll be doing Thanksgiving this year on the 24th as she has to work all next week through the 28th.

Fingers crossed all goes well.

Woke up, thought about putting limiting straps on my twentyfour. Took a crap, smoked a bowl and went back to sleep for a couple hours. I can put those limiting straps on later today, lol. I still need to figure out how the heck I’m going to mount the body.

I pulled the mower deck off my tractor and put the snow blower on it. Cab goes on tomorrow. :(
Gonna be 85 deg here this weekend. I still envy y'all that get the cold stuff. We had a "cold" front last week... dropped it down to 70s day/ 40s night and now it's gone. Hot dry summers mean leaves just go from green to pale yellow to brown... no vivid fall colors... hate it.

Been sick at home - tested Positive for COVID for the first time, kinda sucks because I just finished using up all my vacation time visiting Denver with family. Now I'll likely be having to stay home during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

(I'll bet I caught it on the flight back, it was delayed by 3 hours...)

Retired this storage container for this one from Hobby Lobby (found in the art section). 2 latches and pin hinges should be more reliable. This is my hardware set that I keep in the bag.
