picked up some rc4wd hitman 2.2 beadlocks. They came with some tires on them but I want to use other tires. Ordered the hex bolt tool from rpp. my question is. How in the world do I use this tool. what is it supposed to attach to??
this is the tool

Miniature Scale Hex Bolt Tool for M2.5 & M3 scale bolts (2.5mm Hex)

I assumed I could use it this way but what keeps it from sliding all the way up the shaft of hex driver. I didn't notice any ridge or anything inside to keep it from sliding. Hopefully I am making sense

the round part of the driver keeps it from sliding up but you will need to hold the damn thing down tight on your hex head.

I really wish Locked Up would come out with M3 scale hardware, it's a much higher quality and they give you a much better tool!

does the 2mm fit the RC4WD bolts?
I have the one for the M2 Acorns and it's too big for the RC4WD M3 Bolts.

lots of miss information in this thread....

you guys are forgeting that there are 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm RC4wd scale bolts, and they have different size scale hexs and use different size sockets/tools.

the 2mm tool thats used for TSS and LURC beadlocks will NOT fit the screws that come on the 2.2 hitmans. they require this larger tool Miniature Scale Hex Bolt Tool for M2.5 & M3 scale bolts (2.5mm Hex) which is included with the wheels

simply take your allen tool

put the tool on the end of it (will have to hold with hand)

and then screw the scale bolts in. there IS a lip inside the tool that prevents the allen key from sliding all the way threw it.

hope this helps"thumbsup"

Edit:
you may also find this post helpful if you want to make your own tool like Hooserdady mentioned

I have seen someone thread an allen head screw into a piece of pipe and use the head of the screw like a socket but you would have to see what size works for you.

the Locked Up scale metric hardware is RC4WD. he is a dealer for them.
i dont think he carries the 2.5 or 3mm scale hardware but it can be purchased here"thumbsup"
Hex Head Bolts

I thought Locked Up said it was not RC4WD, that he found his own vendor.
I have M3 Scale hardware form RC4WD and M2 Acorns from Locked Up, the Acorns seem to be made from a stronger metal.

Wow these screws SUCK!
Got wheels used and had one totally rounded. And the rest feel like they r not far behind. And I cant get the tsl super swampers bead to seat worth a crap. Inner side of rim bead seats great. Outter side of wheel always lets a bit of bead out when tightening down screws. Not surr if its tires or wheels that suck.

its the tires. Proline TSLs are known to NOT hold a bead on 95% of the wheels out there. its a terrible bead design. its a known problem with those tires.

as far as the screws ive always had good luck with the scale hardware. honestly it suprises me how much torque than can actually take, and how tough they are. ive never striped a single one. but ive always bought them new, not used.

Cant really blame the bolts and say there crap when you bought them 2nd hand, Anyone could have tried monkeying on them bolts already

Disco....you could always go to your LHS and get small shaft collars (they come with set screws), put one on your allen wrench/driver just above where you want the tool to end. Then, you can push down and apply some force on the wheel hardware while twisting.
