Bodyless chat...AM I THE ONLY GUY?

And, of course...this Frogshot is butt ugly.

Nail on the head. the rules should be the same for bodied rigs as it is for bodiless. The width rule is pure bull**** and gives the bodiless rigs an advantage.

Not really... shocks hang way out there on a bodiless and get caught alot! There are also times when I have wished for a body when there was a rock caught waaay between my f / r wheels. A body would have kept it from getting in there so deep..

Yes, proportions of an E-Revo for example would look wierd in 1:1, but so would a slash. When's the last time you saw an 11' wide F150? (I know the TORC trucks are wider than stock, but not that much wider than stock.)

Straying off topic though...

yeah but for the most part a slash looks realistic. same can't be said about an e-revo.

now back on topic....

I know it has been said before, but I'd like to see the dimensions of bodied and bodiless closer. Only seems fair, and I'd love the opportunity to get creative cutting down some lexan lids.

If you guys had any historical knowledge then you would know that when the dimensions for bodiless trucks was setup they were typically metal tube frame.

They were top heavy and didn't slide on the rocks, and Lexan VW Bug bodies ruled the day. Overtime people figured out ways to make bodiless trucks out of stronger lighter materials. In the future someone else will figure something else out.

Personally I would rather see what someone can figure out within the existing rules. The bodiless guys figured out a way to get ahead of the bug bodies, so now its time for the body guys to figure out something new.

Bottom line its not Bull $hit ....its Evolution!

I know of 3 existing popular bodies that are extremely close to being illegal width wise. If you come across the wrong tech judge, it might not pass tech. It would be nice if the dimmensions were a little closer so there was no question on these popular bodies.

As far as I know a bodiless truck has yet to win nationals. :flipoff:

As far as your evolution remark, maybe its time for the rules to evolve for body dimensions. just like they "evolved" for bodiless dimensions last year.

Bottom line, dimension rules should be equal across the board.

sounds like you need to try one of my v4's....problem eliminated:mrgreen:

super was one with a bodiless rig:roll:

and the rules evolved alright....they made our dimensions larger (by not using bumpers and shocks as measuring points)

I respectfully disagree, and I am fairly sure its not going to happen. Its bad policy chase trends ;-)

Perhaps the best argument for NOT CHANGING the rules anytime soon.

This threads still going? lol. I think some of them look like they might ride the short bus....other than them, I like mine and a couple others.

Did you get a sneak peak at me new chassis, I was going to call it SBV1 - Short Bus Version 1, but crap, now I gotta find a new name for it...

Which ones do you like? Out of curiousity...

You can't polish a turd! No matter what you do with a bodiless rid it will be ugly as sin. But, i don't think that the rules need to be changed because i see no advantage to bodiless. I have never "NOT" made a line because of my body and my Parma Exciter roles over every bit as good as a bodiless chassis. And the Parma body is lighter than a T1E cab.

P.S.-Could you guys stop posting the ugly as rigs in here. I makes it hard to look at this thread with out vomiting in my mouth a little.

I started with a bodied bully and I liked it, when I saw the moon buggy for the 1st time I thought man that is just but ugly, then I bought my moon buggy and ran it and ran my bully bodied rig, and for me the moon buggy worked better ( and I spend allot of time on my lid  ) , the moon buggy made it easier to roll over than the body so I sold the bully bodied rig. Bottom line is it is what ever catches your eye and you make it work, if you like bodies run bodies, if you like bodiless run bodiless, if you like both cut the cab off a body so that just the sides, front and rear are left and then cut a panel for the roof, this way you get to run a bodied and bodiless style of rig."thumbsup""thumbsup"

wow...maybe they should have a 2.2 bodied vs bodiless comp just for bragging rights.

I just don't see any reason that the rules NEED to be different between the two. I run bodied because I like bodies. I've ran both and just like the way the bodied rigs look. As far as advantages..... meh... Both have their own, but not enough to make me justify one over the other.

I just don't see the reasoning behind the dimension rules on them though.

Oh well. no biggie to me though.
