I would have thought the same thing in regards to a super 'Kit', i hope the bully's will work but im guessing its just going to be a wait and see at this point, the XTM and G-Made supers didnt help nearly as much as i hoped they would. But in the long run i just have trouble seeing it, i hope you are right though.

while the XTM looks nice enough on the surface, it has some serious problems. I have a set of their axles & while they look nice, the gears need welded before it'll take any abuse. Also XTM does a horrible job of marketing their products.

I posted it in the vote but not sure where you are collecting feedback...

I think that trying to slice a segment between two classes just dilutes both.

The reality is that your proposed rules are really variations of the super class which appear to address a few niggles you might have with current crawling rules. Specifically I refer to the body size and no bodiless rules.

In terms of WB if you could build a 14" WB I really don't see much difference in building a 16" WB and conforming to existing Super requirements...

On the wheel size restrictions many people would agree that on Supers you should run what you want and hence this difference again would be eliminated.

So I say just add 2" to your WB and join the Super class...

I have a meeting to go to so this will be more brief than i want but its basically this. Those 2 inches in WB and Track Width mean all new axles, wheels, tires and chassis for most people. At 14.5 you can still make it reasonably competitive with 2.2 parts.

I've read all the threads her on this topic and even though there are a lot of different and very good opinions on it, there are still a lot people who are under the perception the building a new 2.2 class whether it be a 2.2 pro, unlimited, or whatever it would end up being called in the end wouldn't cost as much $$$$ as building a full blown "Super". In my opinion those who think this are mistaken (to a point). For any one who has built a super in the past they know how hard it was to find the parts to build it, but now that they have been around for several years a great number of people have spare parts laying around from there past super builds that they, in most cases are willing to get rid of them fairly cheap. So with that being said if some people feel that it wouldn't cost as much to build one with the new specs I think that it actually would maybe not in actual $$$$ but in actual time, if you limit the w/b to only 14.5" then anyone who were to build one have to try and find the parts to enable them to build it to the specs thus encuring extra $$$$, and time. I feel that if you were to come up with a new class then we would be back to when crawlin was just gettin started people scrounging around trying to find the parts, having to build the parts, and as we all know building custom parts can in most cases cost more than just buying them already made. This would make the time to build one grow, and the $$ go up from there, now I know this wouldn't always be the case, but for a big majority of us it would, thus making this new class not as appealing for new people to want to get into. I hope that I have expressed my opinions in a way that people can appreciate and not accuse any one of trying to kill off supers, which I feel that was not the case for this topic but with all due respect I have cast my vote to not be in support of the new class. Thanks for the opportunity to voice our opinions.

No, the overall goal is not to do away with supers, its to recreate a premier class. I have said many times i would rather see supers thrive. I think it would be great if they were as flourishing as 2.2 but that's not happening except in a few locations so what then? Just leave it be at 2.2 and keep grinding people into and out of the hobby? Or maybe we should look to innovate and move our hobby forward. Being the small community we are the fact that we even have access to each other on these boards is an opportunity because we can communicate as a group, not much chance of that in any other class. The fact that we can try new things without going through ROAR or IFMAR is one of my favorite things about crawling that makes it so unique from any other R/C discipline. So why let the hobby stagnate when we have the opportunity to innovate and change?

Because its not just about this club or that club. Its about the hobby as a whole. Yes, supers are still run at some clubs, but not many. So why not a different aproach?

i agree, sorry culetto but i'd rather see supers come back to vegas and RC crawling as a whole. rather than a new "in between" kinda class, i'd love to build and compete with super class rigs.

The poll had nothing to do with supers. It was just to see who would try out the different ruleset.

So would i but its not happening locally. Even regionally there are only a handful of supers. UT wont run them, socal had 77 2.2's the last time we went down there and 4 supers. Would end up being just you, me and steve.

when gsrcrc started to comp we had 3 super drivers just like you,,now with our 4th comp season gettin ready to start we have 12-16 ( a few in process) 4 of our guys went to worlds this past year and 3 placed in the top 10,,pretty awesome if you ask me..

we instated supers goin first last season because of all the 2.2 drivers packin up and splittin when they were done with there comps,,but a mojority of the judges in our club run supers,,so we were left to fend for our selves after judging and running comps all day,,so we would run a course at a time,,very time consuming,,so we changed running orders to have more support with judging,stop watches,,etc.etc,,....now our comps run much smoother,,in a more efficiant manor,,and with all the spectators from the 2.2 class now seeing what our supers are capable of the class gained 4 more drivers,,we have 2 guys that just run super,,with no intentions on running anything else,,i feel it was a great idea and it worked out great,,i think it will give our club even more supers in the months to come..supers are my favorite class,,thats why i had snapped a lil at you when i read all this stuff about a new class,,sorry about that,,but with the numbers climbing,,supers will rise again

I'm all for it, and I'll tell you why.

Some of us can't afford to build 2 rigs, I myself would love to have a super, but I cannot afford to build one to compete on the level that I have my 2.2 built at.

For this 2.2 Pro-class, I could basically switch out parts on my 2.2 comp crawler to have it set up for the Pro Class in about 10 minutes or less! add axial offset wheels to a berg or add some extensions and you are at your proper width, and have a spare set of links and shocks made up for the 14.5" wb and you are all set, so ya want rear steer, why not have a servo mount on the rear and you can take off your lockouts and mount knuckles, servo and the links quickly. Honestly I'd say that for about 175 bucks I could easily convert my 2.2 Comp crawler to a 2.2 Pro class crawler in just a few minutes.

That would be a much cheaper alternative to building a Super which would cost me somewhere in the $600-800 range.

I don't know if most people would go through that much trouble, but I think it would be a easy switch. Make all your electronics quick connect with deans on the motors and your set.

I could probably buy a used super for 300-400 bucks and be done with it, but I just don't have that much to spend.

No i started this thread because i had an idea and thought that maybe this would be a way to bring back a class beyond 2.2 and wanted to share it and discuss it. People keep arguing that supers arent dead, and they are right to a fault, its only alive in certain areas and thats really not good for the sport as a whole. I was trying to think of ways we could go beyond 2.2 and still get people involved and this is what i came up with. I probably should have known it would turn into something else but i guess i just hoped we could get some type of decent conversation going about it and maybe find a solution that would work for a larger portion of the clubs out there.
