Losi 1/10th Roller

Since I'm a newb here... I want to get this rig as my first crawler.

I'm thinking I may be able to do this with some stuff I already have. Without knowing the final drive it's probably tough to answer, but I'm wondering if it's possible to gear this thing to run with a Novak GTB/13.5 set up.

I can get a higher turn motor if the 13.5's too hot, but will this thing run O.K. with my 18r 2s lipos I have laying around? :?:

Well I have been trying to decide on what rig to get and I am now on the list for one of these. I wish it would come out sooner though.

So are we looking at march? Or should I plan on more like April or may? Any hints? ... Even excited little kids know what month Christmas is.

Not sure if anybody has seen this yet, but there's some cool info and pics of the new rig (and me ) in Losi's Race Center Blog.

Very nice "thumbsup" Looks like Losi will have the rig of 2009. Personally, I don't care if it gets delayed by a month if it means working out more of the bugs. Hell, we'll have snow here until May anyways

Right now we're looking at Mid to late March. To be honest we're trying to get the worms just right. Some may or my not know this, but worms are not as efficient as standard ring and pinion gears. that being said, we really want to get this right and as you can see it will push the release date back a little.

Thanks,
Rich

If any of you are interested in the equations of a worm gear (Harley and Nluv I'm looking at you two ) I found a link to the design equations. You'll need Acrobat to view it.

I know some of you want this truck tomorrow, but trust me, you will be thankful the Rich and his team are taking the time to design this truck correctly the first time. Often, correct design goes unnoticed these days, but you should have full faith and credit that Losi will release a well thought out and properly designed comp crawler. Give it time and be patient, writing new chapters in RC rock crawling does not happen overnight, this truck will be worth the wait.

agree 100%
i was talking to the owner of my lhs last friday and he was telling me about how much of a nightmare worm gears can be if they're not designed properly.

i actually know a guy who has spent over 5k trying to design a worm gear based moa axle. long story short, he gave up the dream

patience guys, patience (*hmm... de ja vu)

Hi,

And in the Losi 2.2 description you say to use the Losi 17.5 motor !

But If we use a Novak Goat + the 18.5T motor it will be possible or not ?

Thanks a lot !!!

Wonder what the chances are of them making it to where we have the option of running different gear ratios in the front and rear axles? Kind of like what the MOA guys are doing by running different turn motors but with a shafty and one motor.... Just a thought???

I've seen it asked a couple of times here, but not answered. What's the largest battery that will fit in this rig? I'm looking at some lipos that are 110mm long, but if that's going to be cramped, I'll go with some smaller, lower mah ones instead.

i can't ait for this.

i got my CNC all set-up to start fabbing some aftermarket parts for this boyeeeee.

Hurry up

I wana get my hands on one
