WTF is going on! 27 dead 18 kids in Newtown CT school shooting

Like many others I came home and gave both my kids a hug....

Bad people do bad things and in many cases "nothing" will stop them from doing so,,,,

:shock:I feel terrible after hearing these news, my prayers go out to all the famlies involved in this tragedy, I myself have a 3rd grader and a 3yr old who is starting school next year, I a m grateful that we don't have these situations down here and I wish they didn't happen anywhere else, truly a sad day for the whole world:cry:i

My friend tells me Crime rate not high in HONDURAS, tell us why.

Saw this on another forum and it made me think... I'm interested to see thoughts on this. I am a cpl holder in mi and will be signing up for more training allowing me to carry in pistol free zones...

I can't stop the tears, and will continue saying prayers for all involved. RIP children, and even though this is extremely terrible to say, you all are in a better place now, we love you...

crime rate is not high? we are i think the second nation with most violent crimes in the world:evil:, what are you talking about? we just dont have these kind of crimes, any kind of violent crime is bad, i dont think you understood my point very well, i feel terrible about what happened to these families, it specially hurts me to hear about children being victims in this case.

I will continue to carry as long as I am legally allowed. I will also maintain the ability to protect my family regardless of possible imprisonment. I would rather have my family visit me then have to visit their grave.

This is a tragedy in every sense of the word. Prayers and thoughts to the victims and their families.

I just had a friend tell me it isn't high there and crimes that happen in the USA don't happen there.

I understand you very much on any crime against a kid. It sickens me too.

Oh, i see know, but yeah, we were last year at some point the worlds number 1 in violents crime per citizen ratio:cry:, again , my prayers are out for all invloved in this tragedy, i hope from the bottom of my heart they can find solace in god and their own families.

Morning all.......just finished discussing this with my wife (we have 2 kids, 15 & 17) and WTF was in the shooters head.

We can't imagine what the parents of victims are going through/feeling, nor the discussions parents of living kids are going to have.
This extends to families of kids (especially younger ones) everywhere when the kids are bombarded with the news.

Our thoughts go out to everyone involved. May they find a means of solace.8)

It was a bit tough having a talk with our kids after 9/11/01, I think this one would be harder as it violates the "trust & safety" of a school.

Not sure about the rest of the country, but living in the NY metro area (~60 miles from Newtown, CT) the late night news last night was an hour (instead of 1/2 hour) and was nothing BUT the shooting.
Same for this morning.

Newer details about this event, but no explanation on "WHY".

To teachers here, good luck dealing with your students, also good luck with new rules put into place to try and prevent something similar happening down the road.

As to gun control more/enough, lets keep that in a different thread.
Thanks.

twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
...they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT.

May the families of all find peace. Cliff

I am not religious or anything like that, but that is a good poem. Definitely a tough situation to think about. I couldn't imagine.....

Almost lost my daughter when she was 2. This kind of thing always makes me have a lump in my throat for weeks...

here is another poem that my wife found on facebook that made me relize how lucky i am and i dont know what i would do with out my 2 boys

I hope Im not the only one who gets even more agrivated when reading these poems. We lost to many wonderful young lives for no reason. My child will be held closer these next few days explaining what has happened so he knows how important life is. God bless those families during this time.

While I sorta agree with the 2nd sign,......I also shudder to think of some of the people in schools (my mother in law was one, my step fathers mother was another....) carrying guns.

Yes, I sorta agree that if criminals knew they were walking into a place (any frikkin place) that there may be legal "Gun toting peeps" ready to "Off their ass", they may think 2-3-4-5 times about bringing out a weapon of ANY kind.

Of course, I would likely be ducking since I have no clue on the legal peeps training/eyesight/aim while they are "protecting themselves".:shock:8)

And no, I'm not of the, "Shoot them all, let God sort them out" sorta guys.
