Wraith Beginners Guide

hey guys,

I tried searching the forums for an answer, but when i search "chassis mounted servo" it gives me every instance that someone typed chassis, every instance someone typed mounted, and every instance that someone typed servo lol.

I know it is much more scale to have a chassis mounted servo, but does it improve the crawling performance of the rig or hurt it?

Another challenge... need a panhard rod which limits flexibility. Isn't necessarily required to accomplish 'to scale' unless you're want 'to scale' and 'stock'. A lot of rigs have full hydraullic steering which the axle mounted servo mimics.

Explain to us how a panhard limits flexibility.

You have a solid link, the panhard... that's a limit, if not then the steering arm and draglink. Granted... your suspension may never reach said limit.

"NOTE: Use this with a 3 link setup. Requires that you remove one of the two upper links from front axle. Not recommended to run with all 4 links as it will cause suspension binding. "

While a chassis mounted steering box is not as common on fullsize buggies like we are mimicking, none of them have an enormous box on top of the axle with a giant swinging arm on them.

I would say in function the servo on axle is closer to realistic when compared to a full hydro setup, not in no way is it going to fool anyone with it's appearance. I would not say that leaving it on the axle is any way more scale.

I want to replace my HPI 35t motor with a rebuildable one.
I found one motor 17X2T.
Is that equivalent of 35T?I know 17X2=34,but i want to know if this motor performs like a 34T wich is close to 35.

Kinda old news but what about an arrma 15t with 80/24, and so whatll I need a cc bec for my stock wraith with a hitec servo? .... Newbie

i read it just hard to put it all together being new to it, I was just wondering if the motor would be fast, and that's a no on the bec thing?

Okay well one more question, the info on the motors, I got it but if I use the 56/14 gearing, will it still have plenty of wheel spin up a hill, I like bashing and jumping this thing more than anything. oh and where can I get these spur and pinions?

With the appropriate motor and voltage it will perform well. If you want a system that is reliable then you need to know how to setup the truck.

Most hobby shops will have the parts.

Shoot I aint got nothing but all stock motor, etc.... I just want it a little faster and durable already stripped one spur...., and yeah all the shops ive found have mainly 48p gears no 32p.

Stock motors really aren't going to do it for the most part. For more speed you really need to look at brushless anyway. Again all this info is in the motor thread.

I can't imagine a shop not having 32p gears. Don't look for Axial brand spur gears, the brand is rarely the important part, they often have universal gears.

Harley, thanks for all this awesome info. It really help me choose and plan the modifications on my wraith.

Keep up the good work! Happy new 2014 year!

Harley,
Thanks so much for the vast wealth of information. Can't wait to put some of it to good use.
