that might be nice for working turn signals if you could make it flash

Looking to get one of these for a Lost Baja Rey. Can you make a custom mount if I get you measurements or send you one of the stock light bars?

i picked up some of the led light tubes pulled the leds off of the one end and mounted them on a cage of one of my rig
these are nice but there not flexable they change colors to slowly and there realy thick about 5mm i think 3mm thick would be better these will last about 1 maybe 2 roleovers lol i bought some fiber optics stuff to play with im thinking 4 pieces cut to different sizes powered by 4 diferent leds that each change color at differnt times

imagine how cool it would be if these were programable make the whip turn red for breaking and or one side turn red for signals

Nice find!

I was able to find some 5mm flexible fibre that is supposed to be "side glow" or something like that. They do seem to show some visible color from the sides.

So far I have 3D printed a mount that holds it to something using two 3mm screw holes and I have also made a few different controllers for an RGB LED that fits inside that mount so that it shines up the rod.

One controller can watch a servo signal (it plugs between the receiver and either the steering servo or the ESC) and will just change color depending on the servo signal it receives, another is intended to watch the throttle signal and shows red when stopped, white for forward and blue for reverse. The final one just takes six volts (probably from a spare socket on a receiver) and shows a color depending on where you turn a pot that is mounted on that controller.
I'll see if I can post some pictures of these soon.

So cool! Where can I find those?

I'm looking at electroluminescent or EL wire.
Requires an inverter but they are small enough to tuck in your fuel cell or rx box.
You can get EL wire in 3mm thick so that's good. Thing is its a bit noodley... Needs some sort of clear sleeve to hold it vertical but still have some give incase of rollovers.
I'm gonna edjumacate myself on EL for a few days and report back.
Oh and some sweet chase lights would be rad for the same project!
