Working on a new rear lightbar for KOH rigs or ?

Any updates on the chase lights?

Thanks for asking. This is how I have them now:

Does this do what you are looking for?
The chase part is only when it first is booted up. I could potentially make that happen when you turn on a channel too if that is what you are after.

Yes that’s cool with the strobe feature I think that would look good on my rig. How much are they going for?

I had better add that to my vendor section and web store!
It's $75

EXCELLENT! time to save my pennies to get one of these for my outlaw pro! Al you might remember i asked aobut this a couple years ago for my yeti. its gone now but it will really look great on the kyosho pre-runner, as well as tons of other bomber/wraith KOH style rigs!
LOOKS GREAT!
did you use neopixel addressable SMD LEDs? lightsabers are using them now and look incredible.

i think some buggywhips with neopixel SMDs would put the pitbull versions to shame!!! go for it!

I hope you can get one ;-)

Yes, basically a Neopixle is what I am using. They are (as far as I know) a re-labelled WS2812 LED.

Is that the glowing antenna thing? Sure, I'll make those. Where can I get the "whip"?

i wonder if there are any addressable LEDs small enough to fit an actual RC antenna tube? those would be GREAT for scale, as the pitbulls are short and stalky. scale realism would benefit but i think it would be worth it, even if you cant get them addressable in that size, just offering different colors in correct scale would be HUGE.
the go-fast people (slash, yeti jr can-am, etc.) would probably eat these things up. i know i would order a few.

I'll keep my eyes open for them. The ones I have messed with come on a strip about 10mm wide. They are a surface mount component, so if someone wanted to deal with the tiny things, it could be way smaller. I'd need stronger glasses!

i was looking at the string smd's people use for hobby craft stuff like the "jar full of lightning bugs"... wouldn't be addressable but the size would be about right. just need to shorten the distance between smd's.

like these!

just did some searching and 0603 SMD has a thickness of ~0.75mm so you could put them back to back and put them inside of 1.5mm ID water heater tubing...

now go work your magic!

I'll add it to the stuff I should be doing!
my rzr needs a light whip or 2

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/112304031004

these lights are just a solid plastic rod with some bubbles in it and a led light inside a cup on the ends im thinking if it had 1 led on the end than it could be used as a light whip my issue with that though is the clear plastic rod isent flexable and its too thick im thinking some one could make basicly the same thing thiner and flexable and would make a nice scale whip

you dont have to put a string of leds inside a tube although that would be awsome especialy if the lights chase each other
but just having the tube change color is still cool

With just one led at the bottom it would fade pretty bad before it reached the end.

Trust me I have been in the custom replica lightsaber community for over 13 years, lookup neopixel sabers and that's basically a handheld buggywhip. Just gotta shrink it down for rc and those smd I mentioned earlier would be the jam.

i had a set it light up all the way to the end just fine the only differance is the colors dont mix as they change
look up fiber optics

Great info here, guys!
Now we just need to find a flexible plastic rod.
What is the thickest diameter you would use?

i would say no more than 3mm OD for scale appearance. maybe 8"-10" long?

fiber optics only light at the tip. EL rope light would work if it was brighter but its pretty dim, even if you coil it.
something else that could work: cold cathode?

maybe we should start a new thread lol
