Wild Willy goes crawling

Small update:

I was able to locate some windshield hinges so I repainted my spare original WW windshield frame and mounted it up. No more floating windshield.

Wow!!!! I love the WW body, and totally love what you did with the MRC driveline.. if you should ever get into the buisness of fabbing frames for them PLEASE let me know.. I would kill to build a little willys woods truck...."thumbsup"

Another small update. Got rid of the Losi spare tire and added a RC4wd Rock Creeper. At first, I was going to use another Flat Iron but it was WAY too big for back there with the gas can. I thought about ditching the gas can and scratchbuilding a new tailgate but that would have taken away from the Wild Willy look.

The look of the Creeper is close enough for me.

This thing is so, so cool!!! The Wild Willy is still one of the coolest looking RCs in history, IMO. And you did a great job with this project.

I also like your CR-01 Jeep. The CR-01 is another awesome RC like only Tamiya could do! Great work on both!

Well, this project is now a 1.5 project. I got a nice box from RC4wd a few weeks back and finally got everything mounted up.

I had to drill the wheel centers to fit the wheel wideners but that was easy enough. Theres more than enough material to do so.

Now if RC4wd would make the 2.2 version of this wheel in hex instead of pin mount, I'd get a set for my big jeep project.

I still haven't had any time to get him out on the rocks

My racing and RC short course chassis business have kept me very busy.

I'm glad I kept my original WW. It was in the very first shipment from Japan. The instructions were in Japanese.

Here's a rear shot. It got a matching wheel and tire for the spare.

It was fun to drive. It is a bit tail heavy though. I'll need to put a bit more weight in the front tires.

Time for a little update

I've decided to ditch the hybrid Wild Willy 2 frame and build an entirely new chassis for this critter. It will have parallel frame rails like the original and clean up the design. Here is a sneak peak of what it will look like. This is subject to change as I work through it and find any issues.

This won't be a quick thing but I'll post updates along the way.

Soon. I have most of the carbon fiber parts done. I need to do the rest. I was tasked to design and build a new vehicle for the ROAR Offroad Electric Nats so that has taken all my time.
