my crawler king
hey folks. its about time i post some pictures of my crawler. I wanted to wait with this until it was (mostly) finished. its done for now, but you never know if i will come up with something else :roll:
not happy with the battery position yet, but tests proved this was working pretty good.
specs:
- widow chassis thanks to offroader5 "thumbsup"
- 65t integy matrix rock crawling motor
- losi rock clawz
- 2.2 eight shooter beadlock rims
- custom linkages
- custom servo mount
- 120mm big bore aloy crawler shocks
- 113mm rodend set from hpi for the wk crawler kit
- hard anodized aloy ballset
- aloy light weight diff lockers
- just over 12.5" wheelbase
- droop setup
the cooling fan on the motor is really not needed, but i put it on there anyways

It uses a newera tube chasis, alumimum skidplates for each axle, axle mounted servos, Tekin 55T and FXR esc, and Futaba 3PM. The WB is 13" It has 4ws. It also has a head/tail and cab light kits from RC-Lights.

Here's my Stealth Widow. Got the name from crazyorigin in my post in Paint and Body, thanks."thumbsup" She's basically a widow chassis, gatecrasher, MM with bec and 55t lathe motor. TQ2 for now until I get the DNA dig.:mrgreen:

I havent wanted to go with a servo on the axle yet so I have made all the steering links from 4/40, traxxas ends, and carbon fiber tube. It has really stiffened things up. And I put an aluminum bellcrank on ther too right above the axle. My steering servo is a Hitec 645. Later I will upgrade the servo to a better one. It has much improved steering torque with nothin in the links to flex. Also I put a "strap" of doubled sheetmetal on the front axle and bent it over so that the plastic bellcrank mount stopped flexing. The bellcrank and my axle housing bolts go through it. I don't really think much of the initial torque is lost from the servo the the wheels now. Heres a few shots from a "drive or drown" spot I like to go to. And yes i've ended up in the drink twice in the last year lol.

I also have some much softer foams in the tires. The tires arent really too good for crawling but the softer foams have helped quite a lot. The sidehilling isnt too shabby either. The tires are ribbed on the inside to add some stability.

It 14mm Aluminum Machined Hex adapter set ,Aluminum Chassis Upgrade Kit (Stealth Black, limited Edition),Complete Aluminum Steering linkage upgrade kit (Purple),Wheely King Extended Wheelbase Rock Crawling Kit (Purple), ST Racing Concepts Aluminum Rear Lock-outs w/driveshafts, Wheely King/Axial Scorpion Crawler Diff Lockers, jconcepts 2.2” rock crawler wheel, dynamite tazer 15t speed controller, integy tqx 2007 motor, heavy duty futaba s3305 servo. I would like ot get a bit more travel, and move the battery to the front.
