What the newest cheap servo hotness?

Just ran a Solar D772 through a hour and half comp.
Also have one as a servo winch
Worked like a champ.

Not me, they're only rated for 6.6V and I would tend to assume hgher will kill them. I run one at 6.0V and another at 6.6V

Much difference between 6v and 6.6v on them in how them perform? I know the maths adds up for more speed and torque but wasn't sure if it would be noticible

Anyone else? i need some cheap servos but solar , jx pdi, are all out of stock, tower pro...meh, i've bought a couple dozen of them and had not so great luck with the later.

I don't know how cheap you're looking for my powerHD waterproof was 25 delivered in also looking at this one next as my next purchased HobbyStar DSHV-200T Digital, High-Torque Titanium Gear, High-Voltage Servo, Waterproof ..... Hope this helped a lil

Which Tower Pro servos have you used?

The 958 and 968 are in a different league of quality than the old 995s.

the last 6 i bought were 968...i haven't had issues with those, but the d772 seem stronger..haven't tried the 958r, are these better than the 968r?

The 968 is definitely better than the 958 since it is stronger and faster. The 958 stands out for its torque, solid gear train, and the fact you can usually get them for under $15 shipped.

I wouldn't trust a 958 in a heavy 2.2 rig but they are great in 1.9 scalers and for making servo winches.

Seriously spend the 80 bucks for the promodler 420v3 and never buy a servo again

No kidding. I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars time and time again on cheap or bargain servos only to rinse and repeat in a months time at best. The promodler is the best bang for the buck under $100 hands down.

Hey guys, i am sorry to bust your expensive servo bubble, i have a few hitech hi end servos and some futabas, i don't disagree about the better servos for qulity and reliability, but i have 35-36 cars, boat, heli, drones and planes projects and some of these servos need not be so expensive IMHO, so my asking about cheap servos is that, a question for affordable servos for some of my projects.

They definitely work better on 6.6V. The one I ran on 6V always had a bit of a stutter at neutral and the best guess I have is that it wanted a little more power to find center properly.

**EDIT
In hindsight, I think that stutter was more likely caused by the under-powered BEC (6V3A) that I was using.

So.. about these ProModler PDRS420 servos I've been interested in. Mr. Johns website (kinda sketchy website to be quite frank, as in navigating, not as in taking your money by any means) shows he has the v3 in stock and when you go to buy, it brings you to a dead address. The v4 you go to buy for $99.99 it says "call for availability" I emailed him or whomever to get more info on how to purchase. I hope it isn't just an exclusive members only club to get one of these, as they seem great. Mr. John has probably become overwhelmed by all crawler/scale enthusiast to get his product and shifted his production methods in favor of us instead of his original "air" crowd. I bet they are mad we are stealing him away from them lol. On any note, if someone has a link to it or has any inside intel as to when and if a v5 is to be released and should wait it out itd be great to know. Thanks in advance. :)

If I still lived down in Ft.Myers, FL I would just go check out his shop and purchase in person. I guess its near Orlando somewhere on the I-4 corridor. But I dont live down there anymore unfortunately.
