What motor do I want?

I'll admit that I am a noob and didn't realize that a 550 was a longer motor. I can't say there's really a need for the 550 but it was only 5 dollars more than the 540 so why not. I actually thought about that John, I may try to flip the skid plate.
 
I should have thought about the RTR having the regular tranny. The kit fits 550 motors. Its never a bad idea to use a slightly larger motor when it fits. Runs cooler, better torque, generally lasts longer.

What are your thoughts about the extra weight of the 550 on the overall balance of the rig? In particular, this rig.

For the extra power / torque / efficiancy on tap from the 550 i'd still go for it, even with a little extra weight, especially with 3s
