VS4-10 Modular System Official Thread - Info and FAQ's

[No ETA yet. Axle production needs to exceed Pro Kit sales by a good margin for us to move forward on having them packaged separately.

What about getting digital (ie. PDF) versions of the manuals online, so we can download them? Just like dna930 (and others, I am certain), I prefer using my tablet, as opposed to a large physical manual. Not only does it take up less space, but, anytime changes are made to the manual (correcting errors, adding new optional parts to the back of the manual, etc), we would always be able to have the most recent version.

We've discussed it often. Its something I want to see happen. Ill continue working towards it.

Pardon my ignorance,, but what would be a good brushed motor wind and pinion for the following config? Trail use mostly with some crawling. I'm probably going to go with something from Team Brood.

VFD with 20% overdrive
30/8T Front
27/8T Rear
2.2 wheels with 4.7" tall tires

Stock pinion. Something around 35T would be perfect.

Is the bolt pattern for the rock sliders the same as SCX10 ll?

Yes they should match up. The skid plates can interchange and most rock sliders utilize those same holes.

Hi, Not sure if this is the correct section to ask this question :)

Is there a restriction on what shocks will fit between the webs on the chassis mounts.

I want to get the VS4 10 chassis and convert my scx10 ii, i'm in the process of buying new shocks for it and don't want to buy anything that won't fit between the sides, ie big bore AE shocks.

I will more than likely buy Incision shocks, but it would be good to know.

Thanks

Unless the shock sizes are drastically different you should be okay as long as you use incision or similarly sized ball ends. For example, the ball ends from the new axial kits (Capra, scx10.3) won’t fit the VP housings but pop some incision balls in and it’s good to go.

Ok great,. Thanks for your input "thumbsup"

I'm building a pieced together truck using VFD tranny, VS4-10 chassis with D44 axles. Would I use Incision Scx10ii rtr driveshafts?

Thanks in advance.

I can’t find anywhere info on the maximum length of 540 motor that will fit the VFD Transmission? Hobbywing came out with new 540L motors that are longer. Would like to know what’s that maximum space available?

Thanks Grim I just bought the 540L 2100kv on Black Friday 15% discount. Still deciding go dump $750 on the Vanquish Pro lol.

will a VFD trans/skid bolt in to a SCX10ii chassis with little to no mods?

The VFD skid won't bolt up to the stock Axial SCX10 ii rails and the VFD transmission would also require you to change the front axle to one with an offset pumpkin. You may be able to grind down enough of the skid to get it to fit in the rails but there's no way of getting around the axle issue other than to swap it.

Also, for those that have asked, the distance between the VFD motor plate and the transmission is 59.75mm measured with calipers so that would be the longest motor that would fit. If you're using a brushless motor that has the sensor wire coming out of the end of the motor you'd need to consider that in the overall length since clearance could be an issue.

Thanks. If it were possible to put the VDF in the SCX10 ii I would have either gone SCX10 iii straight axles or use a SSD offset pumpkin housing for the AR44s

Can anybody confirm that the SCXII Rock Jock Axles will fit in VS410 Phoenix?
Thanks!

They will bolt up no problem, but you will have driveshaft issues if running the vfd. Rockjock housings are center diff front, vfd requires an offset diff.

Great to see this thread pop up! I completely forgot that Brandon started this.

Looks like it needs some updating! A lot has happened over at VP since the last updates!;-)

Thanks Twade! Dumb question! It‘s obvious that there are issues with the driveshaft!
Yes, some updates are required.
