VS4-10 Modular System Official Thread - Info and FAQ's

I agree. Great thread!

Any idea how soon for the offset F9?

It will be a while, all offset F9 production is going towards kit at this time.

Could we get an instruction manual repository, or links to them?

Thats a great idea. I need to see how easy it will be to get that added to our site. Not my department unfortunately.

Thanks for the update Brandon!"thumbsup"

I have a question about the VPS10142 VFD 30T 6.5% Bearing Plate Set.

Does this set come with the alum spacer that goes in between the plates?

It is not listed in the description. I just wanted to be sure before I order these for the VFD trans kit.

Thanks!

You actually don't need those. It was a last minute addition to the Pro Kit. We found that Brad Perry's bearing plates had the slightest amount of wear on them after 100's of miles from them moving inward toward the gears just slightly. He was also running an early trans case with less than ideal fitment allowing the bearing plates to move. Lots of changes were made to prevent that.

Also, I forgot to get those into the production schedule... They will be available in the future.

I just wanted to be sure before I ordered them. I see that the molded bearing plates in the VFD Kit has them molded in and I thought maybe the spacer needed to be in there.

I did notice on my Pro that the alum bearing plates do fit very snug in the case, so it is good to know that it will be ok if it is not in there.

Plus one on the manual repository. I like to see a manual before deciding on purchase of RC products.

I'm looking at motor options right now and I'm wondering does the VFD require a reverse rotation motor or is it forward rotation?

EDIT: I'm also wondering if other larger spur gears will bolt up the the VFD tranny (I know the cover wont be able to go on) and If so what to look for. Would spurs made for the Axial 3 bolt pattern fit?

If I recall its forward rotation. Its a 5 gear transmission which would result in the same motor rotation as an axial 3 gear transmission.

Yes a larger spur gear will fit without the cover. The slipper eliminator / spur gear mount has hole patterns for both standard 3 bolt spur gear hole diameters.

Made a few updates to the post and added some products. I'll keep adding to this as things are released.

Are the front upper links the same length for the VFD and the OG VS4-10s?

Yes they are. Both offset front axles have the same upper link position and link length.

We decided to include that upper link with the offset front D44 axle and will continue to do so in the future as we release more offset front axles.

Excellent call and thank you for confirming.

I wondering if you guys plan to sell the Medium and firm springs for the Incision shocks? I heard Josh mention that the shocks used to come with the medium springs but this changed and now the soft springs are included with the VS4-10 kit. So if you have a VS4-10 and pick up the spring set you'll end up with another set of the soft springs that you dont need and you get firm springs while missing out on the mediums.

We actually switched that pack to include all 3 spring rates. It takes a bit of time for the old inventory to cycle through before we want to update the web page. The original part number and price remains the same.

I need to confirm we have been selling the 3 pack for a while and I will get the photos and image updated.

Will the Origin and Pro manuals ever be available online? I have a laptop at my workstation and like to have digital references available.
