Ultimate Adventuring Bronco "VERTIGO"

I picked up a New Bright rock crawler the other day, on clearance not really knowing what I was going to do with the body but knowing I liked its look.

I have the old chassis from Bubbles 2.0 sitting @ 12.5" wheel base SSD Ar60 housings fully built and a old Vanquish trans sitting around. The chassis isn't super scale, but is very stiff, and very functional using a Wraith Skid as the base.

This will not be a build thread so much as a log of how she drives and where she goes.

Before the body was cut, and on small 4.7" tires.

I was watching YouTube this morning and realized.....

That is what I do, I hit trails where and when I can, and this rig would look right at home on the U.A. or on a trailer behind Bubbles 3.

So inspired, I went out to the shop and mounted the body. It pivots on the rear and I drilled out the front "hood pins" and mounted some Axial body mounts.

So after a bunch of fiddling today, I scrounged a 14t pinion, and a Wild Boar drive shaft for the rear and a Traxxas drive shaft is up front until I get my Mip extended shaft for the rear.

Motor is in and throttle is programed in at 66% to tame the power of the 3000kv 4 pole motor. Hoping the driveshafts last a couple runs anyway. Bec is set @6v and my rx is getting ballooned....

No real visual changes, so no pictures.

Hoping to run her on Sunday.

I got out to the shop this morning ad froze my toes off....

Rear bumper mounted...

Test run complete, Did a quick little dog trail run in the snow at my house.

I need to tighten up the slipper a bit but she performs good for a heavy weight monster. Movement is controlled but has great flex, and she is not prone to roll over to bad, for a hard body. She is a little underdamped but it looks cool as she bounces around.

First real run today, got out with a couple guys...

I really like her, she needs some tuning, But she is running good and is suprisingly stable.

Thank you Rs10man.

Carnage report. Somewhere on a hill climb I tumbled and broke a upper link making the tq twist extreme. Then I bumped the throttle to 100% on the way back to the cars and broke the rear drive shaft lol.

Body removal is two screws i n the rear bumper.... Drivetrain is 10 Screws, 4 for shocks, 2 for steering panhard, and 4 for the skid, and 3 wires for the motor.

A Super Shafty exclusive Mip bone is on its way.... Hopefully I can run 100% throttle fro now on....

Yeah his first time! He had a blast. I helped him swap some shock oil on his little barrage today. Went to 15wt feels much better now though still over spring imo.

After giving her a good shake down, I came up with a name....

"Vertigo"

Always feels like shes going to tip over, sometimes she does.

Did some tuning yesterday, moved the shocks out at the top, had to file the frame a bit to clear the shocks. She will now climb my steps up the deck without hardly any trouble. The bottom steps are the same as the wheel base and about 3-4"tall. the last is a standard step, all treated 2x6.

Previously Hitting the bottom two steps was a matter of trying not to flop on her side while climbing both steps from either direction I managed it but struggled just to get on the second step. I managed all three maybe 1 in 10 times.

After... She walks right up the bottom steps without threatening to flop, and I can climb the top step until my Skid hangs up and the rear leaves the ground. Back up a bit until the front tires are on the edge, and bump the throttle and she is up. I can do that 9/10 times now.
