Twade’s Terrible Financial Decisions

December played hell on my wallet and specifically my hobby fund.

Had to send a few 35mm cameras out for repair/maintenance

Picked up this behemoth of a medium format camera from Sweden:IMG_1803.jpeg

Picked up this Sony a7II and two lenses from a buddy at work

And lastly I snagged an optic kit with throttle therapy panels, sold the axles and trans, set the panels aside for my older boy, and started an eibach livery for the youngest boy.

I got a deal on a vrd builders kit, and I’ll be using the axles and vfd for the optic. Going to relocate the fusion se, vp rtr servo and radio from his gatekeeper. I also had some new vxt2’s, ci lil nova’s and plastic riots to throw on for him.

I’m hoping to use the vrd soa mount and keep it 4 link, but if that doesn’t work out I’ll likely just go cms and 3 link.

Once I get his wrapped up I’ll probably start on the older boys rig. Hoping to put a set of carbon portals and lightweight VFD in that one.

Hopefully before driving season I’ll have a chance to put one together for myself

Congrats on the move, bummer about losing your RC buddies, but you should be able to find some new ones to hang out with.
One of my closest buddies is also moving to AZ, in fact, a few months after I move. So I guess win win on that part. Thanks to here, and someone pointing me to two facebook groups. I've met a bunch of people up there already and found 5 crawling spots. Soon as I'm settled in, I plan on getting the Pacific NorthWest section of this forum a bit more populated and active, hopefully. :devilish:

Where do you send your 35mm's for maintenance work?

I started off with an Olympus OM10 in '86 as a 16yr old ... cheers for the memories (y)

I found a website while browsing the Pentax forums, a guy named Eric Hendrickson. I think he only does Pentax stuff, but seems like good quality.

I just happened to pick Pentax for my first camera and now I’m fairly invested in the k mount, but I almost went with the om10 myself

Well parts showed up and next thing you know I got optic #1 basically done.

-Stock cage
-Eibach panels
-F10 straight axles from a vrd builders kit (sintered gears for now)
-VFD from the same builders kit 13/56 gearing
-Stock H10 rear links
-Slightly shorter front links, 135mm eye to eye lowers, 120mm upper, 96mm panhard and 93mm drag link
-CMS/3 link setup, tried running the vrd SOA mount but would have had to cut the cms mount and trim the stock chassis brace. I don’t love how much flex there is at the panhard mount but it should be okay for now
-13” wheel base at ride height
-fusion se 1200kv
-misc rtr servo with vrd sintered horn
-grey 1.9” riots with red slim ifr’s and scale hub screws
-falken m/t’s with CI 4.5” lil novas soft/med

Overkill for a 3 year old, but hey I’ll drive it more than he does probably.

Looks awesome! How much steering throw do you have before the tires contact something? I'd think those narrower axles would have affected that quite a bit.

It uses the standard vfd skid plate right? Steering should allow the same travel as any other vp rigs i would expect.

The only thing limiting steering throw is the panhard mount, I’m only running 4.65” tires and 350 hubs so it’s not an extreme setup

Yes standard skid, the upper front links do mount to the outside of the skid, but doesn’t seem to interfere on my setup
lucky lil 3 yr old (y) looks great
Spoiled is more like it, but he does enjoy his rc truck!

The F10’s look great under it. You’ve given me ideas for my spare Optic cage.😉
