Turnigy 5.0 5000 mah lipo. Good? Or Not?

I guess the next question is... how much battery do you really need? I ordered a 3000mah battery which is much lighter than the 5000 hardcase packs. I presume that would be better in a crawler since the battery is mounted higher up, at least for lipos.

Very good point. I only used my 5000 in my scx10 because that's what I had laying around charged that day. My 2200 zippy packs for my mini revo work great for crawling and go for longer than I usually run it. Plus they are like the size of a candy bar so I can just keep an extra in my pocketif needed.

500mah 20c is a bit low. That will only supply 10a. Most crawler motors will need at least 20a, 30 or more to be safe. If you know the actual wattage of your motor you could calculate exactly how much discharge you will require from your batts. Then add a buffer to be safe, usually + 50% is safe.

The other issue is that C rating will degrade over time.

My 5000mah 20C lipos used to never break a sweat on my racer, now they get warm and a little puffy. Same car, same run times. So get more than you think you'll need. The C ratings are probably crap, but the price is right.

I would consider a 2200mah at 40C. I think they're in the zippy brand.

i have the turnigy 3s 5000mah 25c and im getting well over 2 hours of run time and almost an hour in my blitz which is not brushless its running a 12t titan motor.. there badass batterys im getting more of them had this one for a year and still balances out good......... for the price there a must get imo,,
