Great thread, What a great way to be keeping with your dads spirit Shinchu. I absolutely love it when my kids draw me pictures of my truck, so this is the moon man!

I dig the helpful and involved vibe throughout the thread. Makes a guy want to pick up an Ascender...

Thank you SMOG! I agree this is very therapeutic for EVERYONE! even readers of this ongoing project. and the contributors... oh man I cant say enough kind words for the fellas helping me with this build. i have something special in mind when its done though.

i have mulled over the idea of trying to find the actual 1:1, try to rebuild it too. but i have NO idea where to start looking. i don't remember the plate number or anything. and i cant exactly ask my pop where it went. :(
he actually offered it to me at one point, so i could use it to tow my AE86 corolla to drift events. i had to decline because i had nowhere to park a truck or trailer at the time.
maybe just buy one and start over? no time or money right now though. so... 1:10 it is!
(on a happy note, he left his '66 stingray 427 to my son. slightly cooler than an old F-150, i think?)

as for picking up an ascender... DO IT! great rig, great people! oh and it helps if you have a cat ;)

say it with me, yall...

ASCENDERS, ASSEMBLE!

Your dad was a cool guy. Have you dug through some old photos to catch a glimpse of the plate?

i have looked but i don't have many photos. i think my mom has a bunch more. might have to make an excuse to come visit, and see if i can find photos and maybe my vintage blackfoot that my dad bought for me back in '91.

Also maybe an old registration or insurance paper that your dad had, should have the plate on there. :)

Hey Chris, got your truck body today, I will keep you posted! I did some remixing on the cream after looking at the link you sent, do you want me to send them to you for your blessing?"thumbsup"
And thanks for the card, very thoughtful.;-)

Like i said earlier, i trust you as a master of your craft.

I actually painted a 75 bronco in the same colors and pattern on forza horizon 3 for xbox one.
It looks great! I gotta figure out how to get the pic i took flexed on a rock in the game off the website. I think thats a thing?
Or if somebody else knows, my gamertag is shinchu.

Done Chris, it is hard to show the way the colors really look. But I think they are close. "thumbsup"

The cream is darker than any of the pics show.

I'll try to get it headed back your way tomorrow. ;-)

Awesome!!!
Looks great and now i am super motivated to get it finished!!!

Thank you for taking time to do this with everything you have going on. Wait til you see it with all the trim applied!

Also, just so everyone can see wht im going for, this is almost EXACTLY how the truck looked when the shell topper was removed. Dual fuel tanks and everything.

Also still not totally sure if it was an f100 or f150.
But i do know it was for sure a ranger lariat trim.
I even did some reading and the only difference is the 150 had wider rear leafs, and an extra leaf for more weight.
I do remember my dad said he added a helper leaf to support the sixpac cab-over camper he put on for longer camping trips, i addition to the beefier rear swaybar i mentioned earlier.
Ahhhhhh man i wish i had more pics of that truck!!!

Hey Chris, your truck body is headed back your way. I know you said you wanted to build your own bumpers, so I sent you some assorted bumper building stock. "thumbsup" Offer still stands if you want me to do them. Sent 2 day so you should see it by Wed or Thur. Have fun! ;-)

Ernie always going above and beyond... thank you so much.
i don't know if i can use any bumper material you send me. i wasn't going to build a tubular bumper. i was going to styrene scratch build an OEM style 79 ford truck bumper. best would be machined or even 3D printed, but i have no idea where to start for any of that. i still need to figure out the grill situation too. i might use the decal and cut a hole for the actual grill opening, and scratch build a grill insert from styrene as well. looks like my best bet until i can see if the traxxas grill fits.

I'll post some pics when i get all the trim on and cut out the fenders! THANK YOU ERNIE!!!

That's ok Chris, if you can't use it I'm sure some one out there can, pass it forward."thumbsup""thumbsup"

Forza is a racing game. I think he was able to custom build a virtual Bronco for the game.

Thanks for the info, I guess you can tell I don't do any video games! LOL
I have my camera batteries all charged for photos of the Jamboree for you. I'm still having issues after my surgery so not sure I will be able to participate on the trail run. But still looking forward to meeting new people and spending time with my friends! 8)
