So RCC has dedicated threads for rants and for what you did today and for what you just bought and what's funny. And while those remain fairly popular off-topic threads, I feel like it might be warranted to have a thread where community members are free to post about basically anything else off topic where starting an actual thread may seem unnecessary or lame. So... random thoughts, gripes, something upcoming that you're excited about, something making you anxious/ disappointed, or just something that you want to share... Post up!

Only criteria is to keep any posts within the scope of RCC's established TOS and guidelines of ethics.

Man, that kid still to this day freaks me out lol.

My contribution today- Maybe some older guys remember/ maybe not... but I recently found myself with some down-time and subsequently watching an old TV classic, Gunsmoke. And I discovered that there were some SMOKING hot women on that show! Some of them were just one and done actresses but at least some were notable in later sitcoms/ movies. Anyway, I found myself thinking "maybe this is why dad liked this show!". As a kid I just never noticed how insanely attractive some of those women were.

Yep.. I realize that men aren't allowed to actually say things like this these days but whatever... I'm not dead yet.

Quick search reveals plenty of famous actors played some bit-parts on that show- Burt Reynolds, Mariette Hartley, Rory Calhoun, Dennis Weaver, Bette Davis, John Astin, James Brolin, Leslie Ann Warren, Norma Crane, Buddy Ebsen, William Conrad, and William Shatner just to name a few.

I typically don't watch TV anymore but I have to confess that I found myself tuning into Gunsmoke like it was a soap opera and I just had to see what was gonna happen next lol.

Haha. Turtle boy redid the video now as an adult. Seemed like a goon as a kid and still does now.

I can't watch that old TV stuff. It pains me. If it's black and white, forget it! I barely watch TV as it is so when I tune into a TV it won't be that crap.

Sexual attraction will always be a thing. It's human nature and what keeps the species going. The people that try to tame it are morons. Objectification happens from both sides. F sensitive people. That was kind of a rant. Wrong thread I guess. 😜

This is in color and prob high def or something... looks sharp. I don't generally watch the tube unless it's local news or weather. Wife wants to cancel it altogether... we only have 15... but I hate getting rid of it completely.

Not really an attraction at this point in my old days... more of an observation. My wife is more than enough for me as it is lmao. Funny nonetheless seeing aspects of this show from my childhood in a completely different way this time around.

Ha, I generally don't care much about what I say that might offend someone in day to day life but I've also mellowed quite a bit over the years... no reason for me to get bent out of shape over trivial things. I have enough of my own issues to deal with.

Nothing's wrong in this thread lol.

RC news that doesn't deserve it's own thread...

Apparently the blow hard is releasing his own RC kit.

I’m not familiar Jato, what’s the deal with the kit?

I lubed up my shocks finally, I hit my link ball ends too. Feels a bit smoother. Gotta love Tri-Flo.

Not surprised since they started making their own axles recently. Who knows if any of it will be good. I do like that they have 1:1 portals. Extra clearance without changing overall gearing.

So I just got a pack of 10 pairs of XT60 connectors with sheaths for $15 CAD by the brand Amass, have to say ... freaking great quality for the price. Looked at the nearest hobby shop here and they want $10 for one pair or three for $20 ... same brand too  yeah ... nah :flipoff:

I'm not familiar with it. Just saw this photo. But the owner of Ottsix is not my favorite person. He's arrogant while often being wrong.

Funny I start this thread then today... kaboom. Wife just called me with the news. After 12 years of a grueling career... rising through the ranks, performing above expectations, in 12 yrs ONE late and NO unexcused absences.... They demoted her.

She'll not only lose half her pay but also almost half her hours. We knew in Dec that this might be coming but it's really hard to fully prepare no matter how much you try. I gotta try to process this and be the support that she needs. She's trying to hold it together but from how it sounded on the phone she's falling apart pretty bad right now. So much on the line and damn this is scary shit to have to deal with.

That sucks. I am assuming private industry and not military?

With that... shoestring or steak fries? Me? I am a steak fried kind of guy.

ideally, this could be the dull thread eh?
Do you have some dull news to share?

That sucks. Sorry to hear it! Companies are not loyal and that's why people should not be loyal to companies! There are rare exceptions, but those are very, very rare in this day and age! I don't know what she does, but the good thing for her is that it is an employee's market if she wants to look elsewhere. I'd be job searching immediately if I got demoted and it was no fault of mine.

Private, yes. Oh and 'a-grautin'... I like my potatoes bathing in cheddar.

Thanks, man. Indeed... no loyalty is an understatement. And beyond unfair... this coming from a guy who always tries to see both sides unbiased. This was outright sabotage imo. She's ( my biased opinion now) the best and most dedicated employee that this company has ever had... at least at this particular location. They brought someone in six years ago and this c#nt has had it out for my wife since day one. Again... I won't get into details right now but there's been a distinctive pattern of maliciousness, intimidation, favoritism, etc from the get go.

Problem is that this company doesn't interact with it's stores individually.. essentially they allow their stores to police themselves. There have been some red-flags over the past couple years but whenever I've suggested that she go to corporate, she's always said "I can handle things myself". And I'm proud of her for that... She's the type that sucks it up and takes keeps going. But now... ugh.

Second part of that problem is that they have a fox guarding the hen-house. My wife isn't the only one in recent years that's been unfairly terminated or demoted. Unfortunately there is no accountability so as long as the company's bottom line looks good... it's just business as usual. Anytime that you mention this company to anyone here in town, their immediate reaction is ALWAYS the same "OH... No way I could work there!". They have a history of unrealistic demands of their employees and that's on a good day. Folks around here know that this is about the most ball-busting company that someone could work for.

I'll know more tonight and as much as I can say "this is what I'd do..." it's going to be her call as to how she feels best to proceed. Bad thing as it stands right now thing is that she makes ( made... sigh) better money here than she would ever be able to anywhere else remotely close to us. This is 12 years of pay raises as well and she'd need a degree to make this kinda money elsewhere. Companies around here aren't gonna match what she's making... not to anyone coming in on the ground level. Other opportunities I'm sure exist but things are just now unfolding so it's hard to see too far out the lay of the land.

To close out this post, I will say that I have no choice but to remain as positive as I can and to continue being her "rock". When I signed up for this ride ( marriage) it was truly for better or worse and I'll never abandon my commitment to her and I'll do everything that I can. Already talked to a past employer of mine and things ( part time) look promising on that front.

And on that continued note of trying to remain upbeat as I can... The demands put upon her shoulders for 50+ hrs a week have taken an immense mental and physical toll so at least short term, I have to consider that there may be a beneficial trade-off. And we thankfully do have some savings to be able to at least temporarily help with the lean times and uncertainty. We just need to go over our budget and figure out where we can make some changes, figure out what our discrepancy will be, and then try to stop the hemorrhaging.

I've lived a tough life. We'll get through this.

So sorry to hear hpd, life sucks at times but reading through yer post ... I'm sure you'll both be better for it in the long run (y) All the best to you both (y)
