The cards are starting to topple

I seem to remember another religious group that would kill anyone they couldn't convert. Who was that? Oh yeah....CHRISTIANS! And it wasn't just some rogue extremist faction, those orders came from God himself via the Pope.

The Muslim "excuse manual" isn't any worse than others that are out there. :roll:

You don't believe that Osama was told by Allah to start a jihad war, why would believe the Pope was told to wage war? The Church chose to start the crusades.

Obama wants to sit down and have a heart to heart chat with these people, and thinks they'll play nice? He can't really be that stupid..... can he? :shock:

He used the Koran for his senatorial inauguration for a reason. ;-) :shock:

Wake up. Muslim extremists want to kill YOU. Not just soldiers willing to give their lives. YOU. Read their <s>religious documents</s> excuse manual. They are using their religion as a tool of war. Convert them or kill them. Convert YOU or kill YOU. Not just the evil Republicanos, war mongers or oil grubbers, YOU.

How do you negotiate with that? Can't. Won't. Shouldn't. You go where they eat, sleep, live and kill them. Period.

Soooo the Pope acted on his own without Gods blessing? I'm pretty sure that if we could ask him, he would say that God told him to.

I didn't say one way or the other about what I believe Osama was told. What I do believe is that killing others to support the ideals of your 'god' is idiotic, psychotic, and totally delusional. Plain 'ole religious persecution isn't much better. With over 6000 religions in this world, its my belief that most of us will be in for a suprise when we take the big dirt nap. If you're saying to yourself "that won't be me, I know what will happen", you're the one I'm speaking to. ;-)

Faith is not absolute truth, it is truth as you percieve it. It does not change the outcome of things.

If a person has faith that a certain thing will happen, and it does, they say "See, that is the power of faith! God has rewarded me!" If it doesn't happen, they say "It was not God's will! He has forseen a better, different path for me! I still win!" Its delusional.

Well its kind of hard to say what isn't in the bible because, well, its not in there.

Both the old and new testament were assembled by a commitee of men. In the interest of thier faith and with mankinds supreme falibility, logic dictates that they wouldn't include damaging material. They also had a nasty habit of killing heretics and destroying any "propaganda" that wasn't in line with Christianity. If they couldn't kill 'em they would do their best to discredit them.

It comes down to a "he said this but I said that" deal.

Considering that the Old Testament's contents were handed down over several hundred years by mouth and occasionally on paper, translated many times by many people, and had many authors before the first edition was put forth, its credibility is very suspect.

The New Testament was written many years after JC's death, and the submissions for it were only accepted if the material came from apostles or those close to them. That sounds a little biased to me.


As far as JC hisself goes...in his time he was but one of many that claimed to be a direct link to God. If they were boy bands, he'd be a Menudo or NKOTB. Just because he rose to fame didn't make him the truth, only the most popular.

The only group of men who actually censored anything were the Pharisees and Sadducee's. The Church later continued the trend by censoring out God's name.

On removing "damaging" material, there are numerous accounts in the Bible of serious mistakes.
King David had an affair with another woman, on some occasions the nation of Israel would sacrifice their children to false gods, Israelites were cheating and defrauding their brothers, and the list goes on.

They could have removed all this "material" in effort to look spotless.

By the 1st Century, Christians already had the Codex which was the old testament.

Your right on the false messiahs, you can read that at Matthew 24:23-25. So what would prove that he is the Son of God? His actions and what he promoted:

He was given the opportunity for political power, which he refused.
(John 6:14-15) (Luke 4:5-6)

He condemned the use of violence. (Matthew 26:52)
He condemned the Pharisee's for being hypocrites on failing to teach the important matters of the Mosaic Law to the people. (Matthew 23:23)

He promoted to seek spiritual needs rather than riches. (Matthew 6:33)
He does not speak of his own originality. (John 7:16-18) <--- I am not sure why that smiley is there.. I tried to edit it out but no luck.


The truth is that Christianity has failed to live up their claims, not Jesus or God.

The only mistakes made were those of men, so those could be considered lessons. You can't have a good book without a little drama.

There are stories of those that have killed in Gods name, who claim to have been told to do so directly without prior authorization from the church. I don't know if that is the sole reason, but it certainly is a good one. Giving people information like that opens up all kinds of doors for interpretation, hence the many current forms of Christianity we have today. Had they continued to rely only upon officially trained clergy to spread and teach the word of God instead of mass producing a book and leaving its lessons somewhat unguided for the people, its safe to assume that things would be clearly different today.

Despite the many contributors, the Bible contains the same theme: God's kingdom, from Genesis to Revelation.

Of course it has the same theme, that is what its about. You wouldn't have a chapter on cooking eggs over easy in an auto repair manual...

False messiahs are only false if you don't believe in them. Same goes for prophets, gods, idols, etc. JC was seen as false too, but not by those that followed him.

As far the actions and promotions that you listed, while they certainly were what the people needed to haul them up out of their oppresive lives, I wouldn't say that they prove anything. I personally have the same ideals. What does that make me? A follower of Christ? The son of God? A hippie nutjob who's got his sandals too tight?

You can't really say that the Christians have failed. Untill their time has run out, they still have a chance to make good on their claims, same as all other religions. We really won't know anything untill the party is over, the floor is swept, the lights are out, and the doors are locked.

I always get a chuckle when people put a timeline on God. If He really is eternal, a schedule seems kind of moot, doesn't it? Being everywhere at all times gives you the advantage of doing what you need to do when you need to do it.
