 Keep that line in the water and maybe you'll get a bite.

Well shit, man. You can either be pissed at people that don't live up to your standards or you can be pissed at the people that exceed them. You don't get to do both.
Just because "we" (the right) don't want to pay for leeches doesn't mean we're OK with government officials scamming the system at the opposite end of the spectrum. So, yes, we can be pissed about both.

Why on earth it cost $400 for a parking ticket?

Bankrupt/corrupt city has to somehow pay for the leaches that made it bankrupt/corrupt in the first place
FWIW, the city of Baltimore isn't any better, the state has been pumping money into that decaying shithole of a city for decades. Outside of the inner harbor and few select neighborhoods that are kept nice with good property values, most of the city of baltimore is pretty much as portrayed in The Wire.

You can ad Philadelphia to that list too. Several years ago people got parking tickets for cars that were never in Philadelphia. In many cases the person(s) themselves have never been to Philly ever in their life.

chicago has people hired to walk the streets for the first few days of each month who carry around little scanner things and issue tickets. just like seeing the postman walking by but theyre scanning codes on windshields and issuing tickets... they also use automatic plate reading cameras that will send you tickets in the mail. and on top of keeping your tags refreshed each year you also had to have a yearly city sticker as well as any special permits to park in special zoned areas. for each vehicle it was around 170 or so iirc to keep the tags and city sticker up to date each year.

its been a couple years, but a ticket for expired/not visible city sticker was around 100 bucks, expired tags was around 100 bucks, failing to move for street cleaning was 60 bucks. i even got a ****ing ticket in the mail once for not having a front license plate...

and if you dont try to fight a ticket and not pay, they double the fine, and then they double that fine... then they'll boot & take your car. and since its mostly local people walking the same area they get very familiar with the vehicles in their areas it's very very hard to get away with just parking someplace else... they will find you. :flipoff:

WTF! Corrupt government indeed.

Q - What's common between Chicago and Detroit?

A - Detroit is a bit ahead in time.

If your workplace is that bad you are free to quit.

My oldest brother is a county employee in the shop. He loves his job but the guys he works with are the quintessential lazy union idiots. He's the lead in the shop and I sits on them getting things done so they went after him for we'll over a year trying to get him fired. Even his union rep was actively seeking his termination because my brother refused to tow the line. In the end he was on administrative leave for 8 months being paid and getting more vacation time banked the whole way while the investigation was active. He was working out of his home shop and driving truck part time for someone else. He made ridiculous money that year.

The real kicker? He still works there, they tried their damndest to get rid of him but in the end he didn't do a damned thing wrong so he didn't even end up with a grievance against him. They built a big ass new state of the art shop 30 miles away and let him run it with his own crew. They do literally 95% of the repair work for the county while his old shop changes bulbs, oil and wiper blades. The union steward has those guys back like nothing else, it really is pathetic.

How are the scamming the system if what they're doing is perfectly legal? There is no difference between the guy earning two pensions and the folks who make millions and end up paying a lower effective tax than most citizens. You can't call one guy a leach and put another on a pedestal for doing the same thing.
