Hey guys, over the last few months, there have been some really REALLY serious modifications happening to my axles, so I thought better late than never to start my build thread.
So, I started off with standard Berg V3 axles (yes, I know it wasnt the best decision, but I didnt know better )
they started off life like this:
I then bought some sexy RcBros gear like alloy tubes, titanium rear shaft and DLUX knuckles under the impression that they would fit my cases/tubes:
which they didnt
SO, the plan was to make some tubes that will fit the cases and allow me to run all the goodies that you gentlemen run on your V1's.... and this is how it went:
Firstly they underwent a good dose of milling to lighten the cases and lathing to make the larger bearings fit:
then a V1 locker was tested to see if it would fit in my case:
The tubes:
Raw material:
The cases then had a bash from a grinder with a flappy disc:
To compliment my awesome new tubes, I bought two sets of Sloski800 CVD's from RcBros:
I then spoke to a gentleman called Mr. Links who replicated my links for me (cos its a tracer chassis, it only has 4 links):
OLD LINKS:
NEW LINKS:
HUGE weight saving here.
Then I got some light weight lockers from RcBros:
shown here with my titanium links:
WAAAY before all of this got happening, I bought some Hulksta Engineering 3 piece wheels, now wrapped up in some silver dot Voodoo Pins:
Because the cases are so compact, a custom servo mount had to be made up:
And then it got a polish:
This is what everything is looking like so far:
