Team Carnage Crew's KOH 2010 chassis build

Yea that was a ditch, cleared it with the front but rear didn't quite make it. It just rebounded was all, looked worse than it was really. We knew it was there but dammit we had one more to pass before the hill and some single track type stuff with nowhere to pass. We kinda got sucked into the moment and forgot about the ditch. All I knew was dude wasn't beating me to the top of the hill. :ror:

We cleared backdoor and about 2/3 up resolution the car started sputtering bad, I looked over and gps and race radio were off, gauge needles were slowly falling, I realized we had no voltage and started killing fans. Made it to the top of resolution and it was barely running than just died, alternator crapped out and killed the battery. After we got out to see what we could do there was trans fluid all over the skid, turns out we hit some rocks hard (yea big shocker being KOH :ror:) and pushed the skid into the trans pan which pushed one of the valve body bolts through the pan.

The bad alternator may have been a blessing in disguise! I assume the tranny is fine other than the hole in the pan?

Think so, put a new pan on and filled it up and it goes into all gears, haven't drove it since but there wasn't any crap in the pan either. I think it's ok.

I would love to, only issue is finding some support to make it happen. We know the car would do very well there and have been wanting to hit that race last couple years now.

Yeah, we're trying to figure that out too... It's an expensive race and we need two full pit crews fo get fuel and repairs at each spot. Plus the costs of prerunning two weeks prior... I wish this racing thing wasn't so much fun! :ror: :ror:

Damn good job guys I live here in denver and man I have been trying to make a buggy for the longest time I dont know how you guys do it"thumbsup"

Going through some of the pics and vids my better half took, this was after spending some time tuning with King Shocks. The car sure makes that spot look like a flat dirt road but believe me, it's not. Between the new engine and Irebe's shock magic we got into the mid 70's through this section compared to 68 last year.

EDIT: btw after your winch line was run over and snapped how far did you get? I heard you had trans issues, at all related to having throttle up stuff vs. winch?

From post #761:

She needed to film some of the other rigs going through there. They were going maybe 45-50 and it was scary as hell standing next to the road they were out of control 90% of the time.

Yea that's what she told me last night, I got a laugh out of them hiding beind the jeep when others were coming than when we went by he was standing right next to the road. :ror: Out of curiosity I searched on you tube and found a few other videos, sure puts how well this car works into perspective.

Yepper, you can see us bunched up in the middle of that cluster ****, I think we were stuck on outer limits for close to an hour.

Cool vid, hadn't seen that one yet.

Took the car to the first desert race at CORE, 8 4400 cars showed up, very cool to see. Started 5th, took a lap and a half to get to clean air than just started putting distance between us and second place. I think we had a several minute lead over second place when unfortunately we cracked the drivers side upper axle link mount. I think when we had issues with the passenger side at KOH it actually stressed the drivers side too and it finally had enough. I'm just glad we felt the axle moving before it actually broke off. New motor sure made a difference, thing flat moves now. Gotta thank Bastard for coming out to be our lone crew guy/fuel jockey, thanks buddy, we'll get 'em next time. "thumbsup"

At 100 if drives like your doing 40, very stable and easy to hang on to. Bigger problem was shutting it down on their short straight away from 100 to make the corner and not hit the jump that's there sidways. :ror: Very glad I have good brakes now. We passed a couple of the sportsman class rigs on the straight at somewhere around 70mph, I'm sure it was not what they expected from a rockcrawler. Not sure if I'll be working on it this weekend or not, I forgot my wife works this weekend and my daughter has gymnastics on Saturday.

Well loading up this afternoon and heading to California once again. Gonna unleash the Carnage Crew Garage #4444 at the Ultra4 Grand Prix at Glen Helen this weekend. Qualifying/practice is on Friday, race is on Saturday, 4 hours of racing whoever has the most laps wins. Top 10 non qualified drivers earn a spot for KOH 2012. Whole goal is to earn a spot for KOH but we're gonna give 'em hell. I think they are gonna have some coverage going, link should be on pirate or on the ultra4 website. We have to run a transponder and from what I understand they'll have live updating on the site to see how many laps every car has. Should be interesting, 38 open wheel KOH cars on less than a 4 mile track.
