I finally decided to upgrade my Axial rx/tx, I got the Spectrum DX4C with the SR410. I have the Duratrax Spring ESC that was working fine last night before I took off the axial rx.

Plugged it all in, bound them, and all I get is steering. I've tries the Aux 1 output, reseting and rebinding, binding to the #10 memory slot, swapped the throttle/steering wires and all that resulted in was the throttle trigged controlling the steering. I don't ever get the green light

I've scanned through the threads on here and haven't found what I need.

ALSO - I can't tell if theres an update for the remote. Their website shows "YOU HAVE NEW CONTENT AVAILABLE FOR YOUR PRODUCT." but there's nothing listed below in the tab for downloads.

Obviously it's Sunday and no ones open, but I'm sitting here frustrated and hoping someone's got a simple answer. In the mean time I'll plug my axial rx back in and make sure the ESC didn't just die.

It only seems to go in one way, the edges are tapered and so is the rx. I've got a file sitting here, maybe I'll make 'er fit.

Its got to be the receiver. We just plugged in a different receiver and used a different remote and everything worked. I've seen a lot of threads through my google searches saying the receivers were bad.

No need to pair the ESC with the receiver or anything.

that's one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of Spektrum or any budget radio system. replacement receivers are cheap enough to keep a spare or two on hand, and Spektrum will probably replace yours free of charge anyway

I knew this one guy, Eric0204 or something, that would always bash on Spektrum whenever he could.

I also know plenty of people that have zero problems with them. I very much like my Spektrum stuff.

its been saying that for the last year plus, i gave up waiting for updates lol.

have you plugged a servo into throttle channel to visually check its outputting a valid signal, if their are issues it will present on the attached servo.

also stupid as it sounds are you 100% the rx is the sr410 and not the srs4210.

also dont calibrate esc to rx with bind plug in, and make sure avc ect is disabled in radios menus.

Spektrum said there's no updates for the DX4C yet when I spoke to them.

I swapped the steering/throttle plugs and then the throttle trigger on the remote actuated the steering servo.

Yes I'm 100% sure its the SR410.

I got in contact with Spektrum this morning and they are sending the newer SR415 out to me. Hopefully the next rx works or I'm sending everything back lol

My rx fried when I did this, FYI.

what receiver and ESC? most are set-up to avoid frying by keeping the + (pos.) wire in the center of the three going to the receiver. plugging them in backwards only swaps the - (neg.) and signal wires, something that happens all the time with receivers, ESC's and servos. It doesn't burn up anything.

Older Airtronics connectors are the ones you have to watch for, they use the center for the - wire and can burn up a receiver if it's plugged in backwards. Not a problem with the Airtronics Z connectors.

Spektrun has their occasional problem, but they're also pretty quick to resolve them. The new receiver should have you up a running.

Alright, so I got the new SR415 rx from Spekrum this morning and its got the same issues as before.. Has anyone had problems with Duratrax ESC's not being compatible with Spekrum?

Quick recap, I only get steering, no throttle. If i swap the steering/throttle inputs on the Rx I get the throttle trigger actuating the steering but I still have no throttle input and the ESC doesn't light up at all. The pairing instructions for the ESC say when I turn the power on the LED should light up on startup.

I haven't read anything about any ESC and Spektrum receivers being incompatible. I'm thinking the neutral position on the transmitters are different and the ESC believes you're applying some throttle or brake when the power to the ESC is turned on. But I see no way of "resetting" the calibration to its default in the instructions. It simply says repeat the calibration if any step fails to operate as expected.

I ended up taking it by the LHS, he laughed and asked how old the esc was. He explained newer receivers communicate in a different manner. We slapped a new axial ESC on it and magic happened.

Problem solved.

Unless I missed something, they all use pulse width modulation. The only deviation from this is Futaba's sBus which requires all Futaba's gear.

I'd love to test your receiver and see the output with a scope. As far as I know, there isn't any hard spec on frequency, none that I have seen at least. Maybe Spectrum is using a higher frequency to reduce latency. But, if this is the case, it's a Spectrum issue if there isn't a statement about compatibility issues on the box.

It makes no sense to me why the Duratrax esc would respond to the old Axial rx and my friends FlySky rx.... but not Spektrum, just to end up using a spektrum rx/axial esc combo and it working.

Regardless, it moves again so I'm happy.
