Sonoma County Crawlers

Hi Guys

Just wanted to intro myself. I've been into RC since I was 11 and 30+ yrs later - still tool around with them. NTG/elect boats - cars - planes - and now have taken an interest in scale crawlers. It's just too much fun to put down!

I started building a Tam F350 high lift about a month ago. No - not slow at building - actually had it built in about 2 days (I just couldn't stop building) but my electronics are hella old so I'm just building the truck from the ground up and starting "all new" with up to date stuff (which is nice)."thumbsup"

After It was built - I took a couple photo ops in my yard (unpainted) and then tore it apart and started my mod build. It looks almost like it came out from the box at this point but I'm doing quite a bit of fabrication. It should really be nice when it's finished and be extremely unique to scalers (while keeping it stock in appearance).

"Totally bitchen" ='s "a lot of time invested" so I anticipate the build to be finished around December sometime. I'll showcase it here when it's done (and once I find out how to attach pics in the thread). When I click to add a photo - it's asking me for a web address to where the photos are located ??? Maybe I'm too new to have permissions set for pic uploads.

And when it's built - I'll surely want to hang with some other scalers and do some exploring. I'm in Petaluma and every day I see a new spot to try out. There's a lot! The marina (all along it and the creek) - the water bridge (East side off Sonoma Mtn Dr) - End of McDowell (near post office) construction area (it's not active) - Near the auto mart (they dug up the adobe and it's a rock garden wonderland now... on and on.

Keep in touch!

Thanks Jake for letting me know about this thread!

Hanna

Just wanted to let everyone know she is in good hands . She has been driving her new rig, she wanted to try a tube chassis for her next comp and so far so good . Three days of testing and she has it working better than ever some small changes to fit her style of driving. Three more days of testing and she will be in the hunt for a top 10 finish.

Lookin' good Frank! But, the most important question is not about what changes you have made to the suspension ... But, what changes are you gonna make to the pink body???

Nice finish at the Bean Erik!!!!!!! "thumbsup"

Thanks Jake! I really had a great time at the Bean yesterday It was cool to judge a NorCal comp for the first time and it seemed like it helped my mind-set for the comp. We also had a cool trail ride after the comp with our scalers for a total of 9 hours on the beach (my neck is so burnt).

I'm lookin forward to your last comp, I think your prizes have generated some buzz, expect a good turn-out.

Picture time! I've been heading down to the beach after work this week (in Bodega Bay) and found this location today. Just some amazing terrain, great challenges, and I just have one question: why aren't we having a comp out here? We could carve some awesome courses out here.

Unless its a little template of something then I don't want it, she almost got the boot on Monday night. The trans fits inside the chassis if there were four holes it might have been diff................:???:

Realistic scale looks based on the durable drive train from the popular AX10 Scorpion
Realistic looking 2 spring oil filled shocks allow you to control the spring rate and dampening to suit any driving style or weight of truck
Grey anodized aluminum links add to the scale realism
All new 1.9” wheels and Pro-Line tires not only look realistic but are a huge upgrade in performance
CF-100 Kustom Retro Truck Body included

Chris: To answer your questions and respond to your post .... Awesome pics! Where is that spot? Just North of Bodega?

After this last comp at JPH, we will be doing some GTG's/comps in other spots. The only trouble with the coast is the weather. Like today, it was awesome in RP, but at Bodega it was blowing 40mph (ok, maybe 30). But, I'm game ot give it a shot one day soon! "thumbsup"

Just outside of Bodega Bay, just drive on through "town" heading north, and there are a series of state beaches to your left, and this particular beach (Miwok) is about a 1/4 mile up from the main parking lot. The spot in the pictures is right off the trail from the highway. I was out there today and they wind was not that bad actually.A lot of these boulders rise up 8-9 feet, so it acts as a windbreak. These boulders have some amazing traction, and the cliffs offer a really good challenge."thumbsup"

Wonder if we have to check with the Rangers to have an official comp? I know the Nor-Cal guys have put the Bean on hold as a comp spot, because they were warned about needing permits .... Any ideas on where to e-mail, or call, to find out about this? I can do some leg work if anyone's got a starting point! Also, does anyone know a Ranger??????

losi 2 cell 3300Mah lipo

Jake: That losi 2 cell lipo is great! Ran the lipo for 45min with no drop in performance. It says it discharges at 20c for max performance What does that mean? What is a C? Im going to head to Miwok beach today to try to kill that lipo, I will look for a ranger to see if I can get any info.
