I'm probably gonna catch hell for this...but, why is this 4 wheel drive? Its obviously based on a sand car(see the LS series engine in the rear...) or a truggy made for pre-running in the desert. Neither of these need to be 4wd, it add weight and makes it more complicated and makes it more expensive. I can see it as a basher, and it has potential, I would like to get one and dump my Slash and Stampede, but for right now, I am confused at which market this is aimed at.

Yeah, but I got stuck in a 4wd Trophy Truck too, so thats apples to puppy dogs. Its designed for speed, so 4wd is not needed, faster and better as 2wd plus cheaper and less complicated.

I am gonna say with my experience in RC short course they are probably doing the AWD /4wd just for the performance.
But have you ever seen the new uber expensive dul sports and I don't all the other class numbers but there are a few super crazy buggy's with AWD.
I gotta have the white hancook buggy that ish looks super clean."thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup" I don't mind the AWD it will really help keep the tail under control when raceing around a track. Plus with those desert pictures they shot in the soft sand with just rear wheel drive it would have just gotten stuck.
I am gonna get one and go race it up at pegasus hobbies in montclair on their dirt track. Hopefully enough people in the area get them that a new class could start maybe I would get back into racing again.:mrgreen::mrgreen:

You need 2wd trucks to be heavy if you want them to perform decently. r/c 's just aren't heavy enough to hook up in 2wd.

most people who cant drive or setup a rc car like 4wd.....The people who know setup are ok with 2wd RACE cars...This is a basher and I think it is meant to be fun,or maybe it can be tuned to put on a track and raced with the new sc open buggy class with the losi buggy and the kyosho buggy? And with people like scott hughes working at axial,I am sure he will have some racer input on this buggy...I am in no matter what....It will just looks sick just sitting on my table!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Baffled here.
Axial has shown the usual scale guys (Tamiya. Kyosho, Traxxas..to a certain degree) how their taillights look.
I have to admit that I am a tamiya fanboy, but compared to THIS??? Well ,Tamiya has been slacking-off me thinks (Neo-Falcon....shiver. Durga....vomit... Holiday Buggy..SACRILEGE!!)
Axial is setting the benchmark as far as scale off-roading goes. Only thing that would improve this, would be a line of half bodied (full bodied for The Wraith) Driver figures with those breather tubes and stuff...
In short: I. WANT. ONE.
I guess Axial waited for a bit to see if people would put crazy power in the Wraith, checked the fora, and decided there was indeed a sizable portion of scale nutters that combined extreme detailing with insane speed (Wraith on 3s and a 550 SC bl..crazy stuff like that. even I dropped in a 8 turns SpeedPassion after swapping the front for an open diff and lowering it. Goes like the clappers)
As far as American scale desert-racing goes, Axial is the ultima summa pro, with the HPI-Mini-Trophy as a good second. As a scale-guy, I truly applaud the sudden shift towards "real" looking rigs..
I absolutely LOVE the fact that an American company has taken-up the gauntlet and started producing what they produce. Only thing frustrating me like mad, is the fact that overhere in Europe, we'll have to wait 6 months before the first EXE's will pop-up. (same time it took the Wraith):evil::evil::evil::evil:
By the by.. Is that an Aluminum chassis-spine and kick-up plate I am seeing??

2wd is not faster than 4wd at all, I know this because I drag race my bruteforce, 4wd gives it the traction it needs, however 4wd doesn't handle as good. So if I had to gess it is all wheel drive a perfect balance between traction and handling. Axial knows there stuff or they wouldn't do so well and excell in this hobby. I'm down for one and I'll put a vxl in it probably or get a rtr if its released by Christmas . Imo this is aimed for a Baja type rig which I personally think is a more scale cheaper version of the Baja 5b. We need more info.
