Skaldiddog's "Progress"

Slide 2

Cut another set of silver Voodoos a week ago. Still need to glue them. First set is quite worn and I changed my mind and didn't reverse them and run them. I'm afraid if I do the pins will evaporate in an instant. I thinks this tire will be unidirectional for best performance. I fear they will fall off a cliff when reversed after moderate wear.

Next slide please...

I hear Sautéing some garlic & onions in butter goes really good with Lipo Stew "thumbsup"

Oh...Cool bodies :ror: Why not make a pink one...variety is the spice ya know.

Slide 3

Given my aging eyes I wanted an iluminated magnifying glass. Nothing out there looked good for the money so I made one using an old lens I had lying around. Gluing my next set of tires will be a lot more pleasurable now.

Slide 4

I inserted the LEDs at different angles so they had different focal planes to prevent the center from being a black spot regardless of how far away something is. Soldering was actually a breeze.

Dammit i hate this one pic per!

The yellow helps me find my rig. I think my bearded Jersey sweetie pie is going with pink soon so I don't want to steal his color.

Yeah I've seen these go off (a neighbor burned down his house) and I don't want them to burn through to the bench.

Re: Slide 2

Damn! Seriously? Pics?

Disclaimer: This is all off of the top of my head. I'll verify the pack counts tonight but these numbers are going to be close.

I put ~20-25 packs on the set then rotated them front to rear at what I visually call 50% unidirectional front tire wear. ~10 packs after the swap they (now rears) are at 70% unidirectional wear and the fronts (were the rears) are approaching 40% unidirectional wear. Without rotation I see a set of silvers "lasting" (def. still comp worthy performance, aka sweet range, assumes unidirectional wear) about 30 packs max on the front of my rig with my driving style. Once I have a second set this week I'll take these to the failure point and see what happens to performance.

I'll take a pic for you tonight so you can judge for yourself.

To answer Jeremy's question...

Is there anything you CAN'T make"thumbsup"

Yes but I don't post pictures of that stuff.:ror:

OK Chops, here are your pics.

The tires in both pics have 42 packs on them. I rotated them 12 packs ago.

This first pic is of a current front tire (30 packs run on rear, 12 packs run on front).

This is a current rear tire (30 packs run on front, 12 packs run on rear).

The percentage of wear that I'm estimating assumes that a tire is totally useless long before it's bald. A lot of the pins have flappy little caps on them so they look in better shape than they are. Simply running your finger along them gives a more accurate view of true wear.

Gluing up another set tonight. Get to test out my monstrous illuminated beadlock (per ittybitty).

I think that depends on the weight of the truck. When my truck was heavier, I liked how the boss claws worked when they were really worn down. I haven't tried the voodoos like that.

Agreed. I know some gents that prefer newer pins on their diet rigs. Don't get me wrong, I'll run the pins off this set to find out. I just need to get another set running in parallel and I'll know when to park them based on the first set.

Once the pins are worn off the first set I'll have some blank slates to play with...8).

crap with that kind of wear switch back to Losi.

There sure aren't that much better.

p.s. you can buy 4 Claws for the price of 2 voodoo's

I ran 5 minutes of one pack on BC's once...tossed them in a box and gave them to Jake two years later. Maybe I'll give them another shot, maybe not. Yes, the Voodoos are Tiffany's level bling but I like them. Tires are like assholes, we all have them and they all leave skid-marks.

That was random.

I was never a Boss Claw fan ether. Always went back to Rover Whites. But I have been Running Red's on my sporty and they hook up.

Ripsaw foams with CI tuning disks up front. Old CI in back.

What you powering the old man lighted looking piece with. Lipo? What voltage? If it's what I think I got something here they work better for you. Been in my way for a while and no good to me...PM Sent"thumbsup"

RCBros antigravity gears

Thanks William! Great looking gears.

Holy moly these things are minimal. Kinda scary when you hold them in your hand vs a stock one. As with all things new I'm a little nervous but at my next servo change in a few weeks they're going in. In the picture are the weights of them (C) vs some stockers (A) vs ghetto drilled version (B). I didn't have a spare big B gear that wasn't green loctite-ed to a locker so I just did the subtractive math. The weight difference (2(B-C)) is almost an oz (25.84g). It's more vs stock. Let me know if you need more decimal points.

Thanks again.

J
