I'm disappointed there is not much distinguishing it from its sister, the Toyota GT-86. Plus, it will be the only Subaru without AWD.

It reminds me of the badge-engineering of GM in the Eighties.

give em about 2 years after beginning of production to work out the bugs and get some aftermarket products out there.. should be fun. they have to get a turbo on that thing..agreed. RX8...fail..

Is this the one with a crazy ass power to weight ratio?? Binaryterror was telling me about this new Subie coming out that will be a rwd roadster type with a really high power to weight ratio.

Initial release is 200hp and a chassis weight of 2700 lbs. it should make for a fun car thE weight sits back in the chassis with the flat 4 and I thought I read low 50's f/r weight bias will make it a curvy road dream.
Give them a year or 2 and you'll see both a convertible(Toyota) and an STI version(subaru) with the STI turbo 4 in it. That will make a fun car.

I had an ae86 Corolla for a rally car and even at 140hp on 2300lbs it was a fun balanced car.

Yup...3 companies 3 cars with only minor changes.

Toyota GT 86
Subaru BRZ

Won't be the STi or even the WRX engine, Subaru needs improved fuel economies so they will be jumping back down to the new FB2.0 on all newer cars, eventually the FB20 or its derivative will power the WRX and STi again.

Thatll be fun to change! :lmao:

Ever changed a top load filter? It's easier as all the oil drains back down once you crack the o-ring seal. Crack seal, wait a few, pull of filter nearly no mess than conventional bottom hung filters with oil above it.

It's close, sadly some of its competitors (though much larger) still come out close in power/weight ratios.

The talked about STi version is claiming current WRX levels of 260's, but nothing is set on that version. This would greatly help it in the class.

I've been following the car for a long time being a Subaru owner. I love it and will add it to my stable one day. But it will most likely be the 2nd gen when they have all the kinks worked out and hopefully a boosted version.

Looks nice but needs turbo and AWD....wtf a Subaru that is not AWD??? I love my AWD it's better than my 4x4 cause it's full-time and it does work! I take it off-road regulary and am constantly reminded how capable it is. "thumbsup" Mud, snow, whatever.

LOL at that oil filter location.

Turbo? For sure

AWD? Not necessary

I say this because Subaru already has an AWD sportscar in the STI. What's wrong with Subaru expanding their brand and making a RWD coupe? Who knows, maybe they'll venture into making a pick up truck one day.

Because their marketing for the past 20 years has always been "AWD on all cars for safety in all conditions".
