SCX6 CLOD - DUAL BRUSHLESS - 35lb MEGA RIG!!

just for reference the red raptor is the same body you used on your clod the f150 extra cab is also the same size as the body you used
so the scx6 body is at least 2 inches wider than your clod body and a inch or 2 longer a ruff measurement of the wheel base is 24 inches with ruffly 4 to 5 inches under the belly in that picture it was sitting on top of a Folgers coffee can
I would like to see your clod pull a full size SUV like in the scx6 videos
maybe a vid of a 6 year old riding it or pulling a wagon load of kids for no other reason than to see it

The body does look big I acknowledge that... guess I wasn't trying to say it's not big.

Just saying my rig has...

EXACT SAME WHEELBASE AS SCX6 19.74inches

TALLER TIRES BY ABOUT 1 INCH. (look up 3.8 Rock Mashers 8.2ish inches tall 3+ wide)

Weighs 23lbs all up with lipo (not too far behind sxc6 but yeah i lose here)

HAS ON-BOARD AIR (SCX6 doesn't even have aired tires yet?)

I'm running (as shown in vids) 14.5inch width outer tire to outer tire (I lose here but I gave away over an inch of width to cut and shut my Mashers into Pizza Cutters... so do I really lose here on overall width -- the rig performs better everywhere just about with the pizza cutters setup and AIR).

My rig is up running as of today ready to roll now with twi 80amp RHINOS bedazz dragbrake and sine wave control on 350kv Turnigy AERODRIVE outrunners 4250 ----- each capable of up to 12s and 1500watts. I'm running 8s.

No ill will here just slinging a Lil FUN... high likelihood I get lambasted in most categories by the beast built by the best..

The vid of the scale SCX6 on the rocks - - nice, impressive, but not that much? Its all flat and massive grip surface on the rocks, i mean flat as in no ledges, i get its off-kilter/balance.

Still say bring it and do the wooden stairs 6 inch +. That things got nothing for me. That rock vid has no tall ledges to clear, just a flat hill climb with MASSIVE grip coming from the rocks under all four tires.

Not saying i'm not impressed at all --- i am. SCX6 will always impress me i think it can take WAY more of a romping than my rig. Links, bits, small screws etc really need an upgrade on my chassis, bad. I almost bought the SCX6 chassis and just swapped onto it sans trans, driveshats etc on CLOD Axles. But thought maybe it was a waste and too heavy... I might still try. SO PRICEY.

3s isn't enough to get out of bed for let alone push a 20lb rig. I mean, don't get me wrong, i like 3s and all, my TRX4 runs on 3s -- 8400mah (3 total onboard lipos) :)

You'll need some 3.8's or serious 2.9 tire mod or WILD and CRAZY wheel speed all seems would break something in the stock version of SCX6 (and no please do not come over and hit my wooden stairs at 20mph to THRASH your way up lol). Just stay home if thats the plan. This is about crawlin up and incline when the grip chips are down and all ya got is a big grippy half flat but just properly aired tire and little shimmy wiggle to get over the humps!

Oh and the fact thats someones "first crawl" in the SCX6 --- one hell of a driver must have some hours - being the stakes are huge if it were to take a tumble and all - its hard to know a rig well, its pitfalls/weaknesses the first time crawling with it.

and the orange nylint jeep body is a true 1/6th scale that's a 12 inch Luke Skywalker in it and notice his head is covered


The latest -- this vid should prove beyond a doubt the size capability of a Clodbuster setup ---- can support an SCX6 body no problem. Also - showing next to my 1/6th New Bright Jeep Rubicon --- same size - same width, sure the Honcho cab is beefier, but the fenders on the Jeep are actually about 1/8th inch wider overall.

I do concede the Honcho is a fair amount larger than the 1/6th New Bright Ford Raptor body --- but same when compare the Raptor to the Jeep - - it looks smaller by far. When I run the Raptor the truck looks like it has Monster Truck tires kinda like a Sparks Auto build. WHen i ran the Jeep in the past it looked a little more to scale for a Jeep maybe sitting on outrageous 48's or 52's (feasible but still nutty!)

I'm going for a stretch to 25 inch wheelbase and a Long-bed pickup truck setup using the SCX6 Honcho. I think the tire size with the almost 9 inch Rock Crushers will look something like 40's-ish, maybe 42's.

You weren't wrong though - the Honco body is HUGE!!!! Videos and pics just don't do it justice until its in hand. I abo****ley agree there.

Just not alot bigger if at all than the true big 1/6th Jeep New Brights, both the giant Nylint and the large Rubicon TJ that I have. Of course the TJ was MUCH cooler. "thumbsup"

Waiting on some L channel to stretch the chassis and think I'll be able to see it better once the cab is painted. Struggling with proper wheelbase -- thinking 24.5" to 25.5" with a 15.5 to 16.5 inch flat bed.

New tires in this vid - RC4WD Rock Crushers on narrowed 3.8 Axial beadlocks. (The old Crushers i had were generic Redcats and they were actually shorter by almot an inch and had smaller lugs. The RC4WD when filled with my air system are 8.75 inches tall!!!!! AWESOMENESS. They are FLAT in this vid with 0 air in the tires just fyi.

big red yeah i completely agree!! im assuming you saw my video on the tube -- full size 1/10scale Tamiya TT02 GTR R34 parked up under my rig 100% no problem TONS OF CLEARANCE to spare?

Recent axle upgrades...

I plan to add a 30mm offset axle attachment but in this pick so far i have a +10mm on their. So will be adding another 20mm per side of width to the rig, ultimately rounding in at about 16.4 inches outer tire to outer tire.

With a slightly wider setup and moving the shocks/links into proper mount points theres now room to fit a 1/5th scale servo in there nicely - i crafted a little mount plate similar to the one that was already on the rig but shifting in slightly to accomodate the additional servo bulk -- 1/5th scale servos ARE BIG.

I have a 3s powered 1/5th scale servo on order outputting 170kg of torque at 12.3volts !!! :ror::ror::ror: YES MAAM! The one in there now is 60kg at 8.4volts.

Those are SCX6 links and repurposed panhard bar/steering linkage to fit my setup decently. Doing same to rear but leaving 1/10 servo and steering to keep it lightweight.


These are cheapo SCX6 upgrade links and pretty sloppy but i'm just going to buy sixteen 4mm steel ball bearing heims from Ali for $1.47 a piece and hack these ends off and drills/tap for the new high quality heims. The aluminum rods themselves are VERY solid at least for what i'm seeing. My former links NEVER bent and were PUNY compared to these. I did break alot of plastic rod ends though as the truck got heavier. Ti eventually!!!!

I did do big rigs (as in real thing); lots of fun but alas, i'm old, tired, rather play with little big rigs these days. Besides i traded up for an R35 --- different kind of FUN :mrgreen:

We had alot of fun this day in an '06 TJ this was just the first shot warming her up and the camera battery puked and it was all over. All the silver was missing under a fresh coat of its own chocolate thunder on the ride home that day my bro in law and i put 'er thru some paces up the brick mountain and then some.

It looks pretty solid and I'm ELATED with how the transformation and addt'l stretch turned out - i went with black paint scheme... still working on interior but body's mounted up and all kinks are worked out except for stronger servo braces to come in the future, stronger 1/5th scale servo than the one in there now (from 60kg to 170kg up front, and upgrade rear from 1/10 to 1/5th servo).

Future plans are for automated air-compressor on-board powered by 12v w/radio controlled on/off, LED light bar and headlamps are on order, as well as a set of SCX6 alloy shocks. Not sure if they'll be too hard but worth a try - alot of my weight is unsprung though down in the axles and tires. But these 1/8th scale shocks are nearly maxxed on stiffness to get to 100% ride height (which is really a bit too high but my setup is intentional to run at mid or even full droop ridfe height on softest shock setting with ZERO tire rub. Perfect for crawl and as low a CoG as could be for what it is). There's over an inch of ride height adjusetment right now but adjusting the shock collars from max to min ---- pretty decent range i'm happy with so far.

The tailgate folds down, and future plans to make the side panels of the bed fold down as well on hinges for a legit full flatbed experieance.

I already test fit Tamiya TT02 Nissan GTR R34 in the rear as a EXTREME OFF-ROAD HAULER setup. It fits with the tailgate down so we are good to take it out for an extreme crawl -- the SCX6 shocks may help with that extra weight out back i think. (TRX6 can't touch the kind of terrain we can, mahahaha!!)


Last item on list is trying it out with another 0.8 inches wider on each side (+1.6 inches overall) once i get the new wideners.

I love how it looks all JACKED UP at max ride height but its a bit ridiculous :mrgreen: Don't forget these tires are 8.5 inches tall and the bottom of body is sitting about 1/4 inche above the top of the that tire. Looking at Honcho picks online with Proline SuperSwampers and dual stage foams the bottom of Honcho body looks 4.5inches, maybe 5 inches off ground? My setup is meant to be extreme though!
