so the screws that hold my transmission in place under my scx10 dingo (kit) keep falling out i know it is a cause of torque twist my question is how do i keep them in and keep torque twist from occurring i have used blue lock tight that came with the kit to no avail and i wanted to know if there were some tips and tricks also the screws keeping my front right steering knuckle in place also dont want to stay in place and the only screw that has worked for me is a 3x12 self tapping screw instead of the stock 3x10 self tapping screw but now there is play in the front that i want to fix so is there a little fix to that thx to all repliers and have a good night.

How about using brass inserts?

McMaster-Carr

Select "metric" on the left and you'll probably want the "press fit". Drill out the hole with the size they recommend, apply a dab of CA to the knurls and push the insert into the hole. Thread a screw into the insert, then back it out and let everything dry.

Not sure if your truck uses self tappers or machine thread 3mmx.5mm bolts to hold the trans on, but you definately only want to use the machine thread screws.

Next thing to note is that it is very easy to overtighten bolts on RC cars. Simply bottomed out, barely snug, is ussually enough for most of the fasteners that thread into plastic. If you've repeatedly overtightened them then the threads are likely pulled out of the trans case. This means you either need the inserts that JeremyH mentioned, or a new trans case.

Lastly, loc-tite is typically only used where bolts thread into metal. Do not use it on bolts that thread into plastic.

As for your "play in the front" you've got to give everything a wiggle and see if the play is from loose wheel bearings, loose rod ends on the steering, or simply loose wheel nuts.

i use 3MM stainless steel machine screws in my transmission and use loc tight on them. 3 of the holes in the transmission are stripped out but they still hold with loc tight. so i'm not sure why you are having problems?

just throwing it out there but are you letting your loc tight set up before running it again?

i've also had this problem and i used 5mm-8mm longer screws...they were a bit of a bugger to get in but they've been holding for atleast 20 runs now

Hey bud, I know your problem. If the screw goes into plastic, dab some glue on the screw. If the screw goes into metal, blue loctite that bitch!:D

I lost three on a run and the last one was starting to back out when I notice it. I replaced the lost screws with slightly longer random screws i had laying around. Snug ever since - 3 5K lipos later maybe.
