Rules, Issues and Public Concerns

Re: 2014 Nationals & Season Class Information

The royal reps are supposed to get the opinions from the masses in their clubs to be used to influence committee decisions.

I am but one member of the committee and one of few that actually address and attempt to answer questions and explain things in these public threads. Like I said I am not the committee leader and have no control over the order of operations.

Why are you the only one that speaks out? Why is everyone else so silent?

I think it's time to see some actual public known voted elections for members on this board. This wizard of OZ stuff is not going to fly much longer for the rc crawler community.

I don't know where any of the other board members live, but why do we have two board members from almost the same area? I think Shane and Rickey are wonderful, but for such a small amount of board members, you should have people from all different areas.

Rowdy, that's a very shady answer! You KNOW how you got on the board, and if your not allowed to say, then something is wrong with that!

Not sure what your fishing for buddy, I said how I got on. I have never been told I'm not allowed to say anything.

That's the best goddamned question you have asked, and I have no idea.

I read questions I try to answer, I get flamed.

I have no control over that dude.

They need to be replaced. That list is outdated. Several have moved on. It makes it when the one or two that is still actively involved speak up look like some sort of socialist society. It is not. You are responsible for keeping up with your own region and those who rep you in in that area.

Exactly, glad someone understands.

I actually really appreciate your responses! As much as we disagree, I have alot of respect for you trying to answer everything when no one else will. But, no I don't know how you got on board, or I didn't understand, did fish just PM you and say "hey come be a board member", or was it voted by the board as a whole?

Since you are the only one that responds, it does make it seem like you run the show, now I'm realizing a little more about what's going on here!

I was invited by fish, I assume because there was no rep in my area and I attend several qualifiers a year and the last couple nats, committee members are also used as marshalls at big comps.

In addition to being involved with creating rules we are supposed to defend and explain them to the public, not sure why more members don't.

Ok, correct me if im wrong, but it looks like Fish has hand picked all the board members. Well then, I garuntee the overwhelming majority in the rc crawler community would not approve of the board that controls this entire sport being hand picked by ONE person!

I'm probably going to get completely booted for this, but someone needed to speak up and ask what the heck is going on!

Maybe Fish will address this question.

Whether he picks them or not it will boil down to a popularity contest.

You won't be booted for asking questions in a civil manner.

Board members are not "elected" unless that is what your club chooses to do, most of the time the RC member is a volunteer that is willing to be beat down regularly by their friends. ;-) Then, in the past, each sanctioned club submitted a name to fish to be their representative on the board. If you aren't happy with your club/area's board member performance, talk to them and ask them to step down and elect or volunteer a new one and as the old one steps down, he or your club president will forward the name of the new member to Fish. Just ask JeremyH, he just replaced Eddie-O down in TX.

I was elected for my area, well actually told/asked by our Prez at the time if I could be the rep. When we have new points being discussed in the RC, I will post on my club/states Facebook page what we are discussing. (since people are on FB WAAAAY too much) and when I have feedback or general questions that I cannot answer, I will bring it back to the RC for discussion.

So, take some initiative at your club, state level and find out where the disconnect is on that end. As it is, yes, there are only a few of us that are vocal, because it seems we are the only ones willing to do any heavy lifting. People talk big, and then once the see how much work it takes behind the scenes, they disappear into the mist.... :???:

Re: 2014 Nationals & Season Class Information

The Rules committee area should be open to for everyone to see. I would not allow anyone but the royals to post, but at least the rest could see whom is supporting and debating what. That would then allow the masses to get with their rep and voice an opinion.

Of course it is your ball, so it is your rules. And you can continue to enjoy the negative growth until it is just the rules committee at a comp talking about how great things are.

Trouble maker :flipoff:

Haha, Royals....so that makes you the dirty prince, aka Loki to Krawls' Thor?? :lmao:

Re: 2014 Nationals & Season Class Information

I'm on the rules committee because I asked to be. Our club's rep quit crawling a few years ago, so I talked to Fishmaxx a little and he allowed me to join.

This just happened a month or two ago. Before then, I wasn't sure how it all worked. Now that I have participated in some of the debates, I assure you it's not a group of buddies trying to manipulate the crawling scene. I haven't been able to tell yet if anybody even likes anybody else on the committee. There are lots of arguments and debating that goes on that I'm sure everyone on the RC would just as soon live without.

While I didn't agree with all of the plan, I will support it because it is what was most agreeable to everyone. And the people on the RC who were giving input was gathering it from their clubs and groups.

Maybe others aren't as vocal because they aren't fond of getting forum lambasted. Not everyone has such thick skin. Or maybe they don't see the point in repeating the same thing someone else has already stated. I will guarantee you that there is no Rules Committee conspiracy. Nobody's got that much time or bad intentions.

EDIT: And it just occurred to me... Who do you feel is gaining anything by the new class rules? No one on the rules committee has anything to gain from them. Certainly no shady deals with boutique vendors were made... because it's a stock class. Maybe Fishmaxx and the USRCCA will benefit from more revenue from more participation, but that would come with any new class regardless of the rules. And the Rules Committee is not employed by the USRCCA, so no one there will see any kind of personal gain. So really... it's just a lot of debating, question answering, and getting pummeled by the public for nothing but (hopefully) the betterment of crawling.

Re: 2014 Nationals & Season Class Information

I have no problem with my local rep, but why do I have two. And again fish, one person, is selecting all the board members. This needs to be an election this forum needs to have a section that's list board members, lists topics up for debate, and post elections. Members should have a term, say two years, then have a post made for the entire public to see so that new nominees can be presented, then have a vote for witch person can continue, weather it's a new person, or the old one is re elected.

I've never said anything about someone gaining from the rules, you are now just trying to point your finger and put words in my mouth Harvo! My point and problem is how the board is gathered, Fish appearently has too much power, the board members should be elected by the crawler community and not selected by ONE person.

Just ask JeremyH, he just replaced Eddie-O down in TX.

Correct. Eddie said he no longer wanted to be on the RC for personal reasons and asked if I'd be willing to be one of the Texas reps. I accepted.

BTW, it was Eddie F. Not EddieO. "thumbsup"

Wow....try to have some family time and dont log in for a few days and people get all pissed thinking you're having secret meetings and avoiding them....

Absolutely not. I didn't quote you, and I didn't imply that anyone actually said that. My point is that there is no motivation for the rules committee people to be or act any certain way. And as far I have seen.... they don't act like royals (as Ted suggested) or shady (like you suggested of Rowdy's earlier post). I just ain't like that.

Everyone on the committee is doing what they do because they think they can help crawling. That's all. That is why you are speaking out too. I get that. We are here for the same reason..

As far as elections go, or terms, or open forums... whatever. I'm just a new Committee grunt. I don't care. But I bet you would have a harder time finding as many willing folks who are active in the national crawler scene than you think.

Re: 2014 Nationals & Season Class Information

I'm not suggesting at all to have completely open discussions about particular rules with the whole crawler community, that's crazy, nothing would ever get done. I'm saying post topics that the board is discussing, let the public know about things the board is working on to help our crawler community as a whole. Try to select members that represent a certain area of the United States. Make it Known to the crawler public that hey I'm Harvo, or Rowdy, or Krawlfreak, I represent this area of the US, so if you have any questions or want to make any suggestions I am your representative. Then also be pro active not only in just the club you participate in but get communication out to all the clubs in the regions you represent, saying hey we are discussing this idea or that idea, please post up what you think. Rather than you guys getting killed with PMs, have a section for each one of you that say for example, when I'm wanting a why answer on plate wheels, I go to Rickey's section and post up that question to him and he responds back to me an answer.

This would give you guys alot less headache, each board member is responsible for people with questions from there area. Maybe like California probably has a ton more crawler guys so have two guys represent that area. Board members direct people to the guy that represents them."thumbsup"

The public needs a clear go to for questions and suggestions.
